Cubecraft will never return to 1.8, though there are various gamemodes that feature 1.8 variants, such as Eggwars, Skywars, and the PvP server. I would recommend practicing 1.9 however, and would recommend that you turn on attack indicator to better help you time your attacks when doing so :)
