    Cell signalling has three steps: signal, receptor, effector. The ligand attaches to the receptor, which is either transmembrane (external), or intracellular (internal). Reactions take place through the cell, triggering the release of "second messengers". They pass the signal to each other, and amplify the signal, creating the intended response.

    When a ligand attaches to the receptor and has the maximum intended effect, it is "agonist". It is "partial agonist" if it attaches without the maximum intended effect; a sub-optimal response. It is "antagonist" if it binds to the receptor without activating the signal, or if it is the villain of a story. Some cells are active by default, and require a signal to deactivate them.

    Aside from cell stuff, I learned that rolling around in your bed feels amazing when drunk, and that if you're going to study, you should always be drunk, because it clearly helps retain information. 10/10 study advice, I should be made owner rank.

    Putting the tub back into the freezer is one of the hardest things I've ever done. The sheer willpower required was immense. I'm gonna go be sick, it was 26% sugar, brb.

    You work at a farm?? :O :O :O That's so awesome! What's it like?

    It's pretty cool! Basically it's a sheepfarm, we've many animals though, pigs, birds, goats, and the weirdest 2 cats ever. It's meant to give disabled people something to do as a job, I work most prominently as a caretaker for the sheep and the lambs, but I also mentor and manage the disabled workers. :D

    Basically I got employed there bcz I used to intern there, I'm studying to be a veterinary nurse.

    That is the coolest thing I've ever heard, you sound like you'd make a great nurse! I used to visit the sheep in the Downs (I called them my Wooloos!) last summer. They were always so cute, I once saw two lambs playing leap-frog together.
