If you put it in rice you need it to stay in there for 48 - 72 hours. I have an iPhone 7 that I have cracked 2 times, dropped in a river once, and dropped in the sink twice. Every time I just put it in a bag of rice for 3-4 days and I was fine! Best of luck. Always sucks to lose an expensive...
