Not thorns, the opponent does not take damage from the attack, and the defense is based on durability rather than it being constant until a piece breaks. I don't know if the original 1.9 combat script had this or not.
You could stop this by making sure they don't get to your island or breaking their egg or like I said before, make breaking a generator cost something.(diamonds or gold sound good?)*Edit:Look at Sabotage Resistance section.*
I did say that if it was decided breaking a generator could cost something, also if they suicide bomb you then just go and break their egg/generators, or make sure to keep your generators defended.
I don't know what version of OP you are playing, but fights ussually take longer than that due to extra sets.
I don't think so, I do know it was a feature of older minecraft though.
This makes it so that you armor loses strenght the less Durability it has.
1/4 of durability missing=1/8 less protection
2/4 of durability missing=2/8 less protection
3/4 of durability missing=4/8 less protection.
If this is too much it can be toned down.

I suggest adding in a set of iron armor in the shop that has an extra 0.375 armor(for a whole extra 1.5 armor when wearing full set), and a sword that has an extra 0.5 or 1 damage. This is to discourage camping at your base island since people that are at mid will be slightly stronger than those...

I really like axes, and in op they aren' tagt useful(because no damage) so I think the sharp 5 on an axe would be really good.
