Yes but chests actually have a function (to store things) so why buy a chest to use as planks when it is more expensive. Also it is very hard to build a bridge with chests ;p you would use the chest to store and the planks to defend whatever you want to defend (Egg, pathway, ETC)

Skywars is very different though... the most obvious difference from skywars to eggwars are that you can craft and gather resources from the map and you can place and remove any block anywhere,

the birch planks would be a step up from sandstone and a step down from obby, also a counter to picaxes and an incentive to use axes as more people use swords
