So as you all know when the 1.9 patch came along, the whole PvP world changed as it no longer requires you to spam click and break your left click buttons every month. Some say it's plain rubbish and some say that PvP has reached a whole new heights now, as its purely on skill, timing and accuracy. Whatever the case is, I think I'm leaning on the good side of it, since I no longer have to buy a new mouse every now and then thanks to the patch. It was a little tough to adapt to the new PvP system, and it took a while for me to actually learn how to kill someone with it, yes I raged like a little kid when I spammed like I've never spammed before and the opponent poked me every now and then and kills me way faster. Then I went to another small server to practice my 1.9 PvP. And several weeks later, I'm back, not the best, but not the worst either. Ok enough with the story telling, here are the tips and tricks that you can do to help improve your PvP
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 ) Spamming is a no no for 1.9 since they added the cooldown system for hits, if you kept spamming, it would deal the minimal damage to the opponent compared to synchronizing your hits with the cooldown. The weapons (sword and axe) have their own cooldown timings, the axe has a better attack damage, but a slow attack speed. Whereas the sword has an average attack damage but a way faster cooldown than an axe. For starters, I'd suggest you to use an axe as the slow cooldown will enable you to click at a slower pace which in turn will increase your chances of dealing higher damage to your enemy. One way to help keep track of your cooldown of your weapon is by going to your options menu in Minecraft, then go to the Video settings, and you'll see "Attack Indicator" , there are 2 choice of attack indicators which shows your cooldown, crosshair and hotbar, crosshair will show your cooldown at where you click, whereas hotbar will show at the end of your hotbar. Both of them are shown below vvvvv
CROSSHAIR
HOTBAR
Everytime you click, the cooldown will show at their respective areas, hit when the cooldown has completed, if you hit your target, it will deal maximum damage, spamming will deal minimal damage which will get yourself killed pretty quick. So don't go spamming anymore guys!
2) Double wield, this is simple so I'm gonna keep it short. Default button is "F" , it will place the item on the secondary wielding slot, it's handy in team PvP since you can hold a shield and walk on a bridge and block arrows for your teammates who are bridging to the enemy base or a resource island. You can also hold useable items so you can use it anytime instead of having to switch to it to use, for example food or bow or potions. You may also hold another weapon on your hand, looks cool somehow hehe.
3) Usage of mods via forge. For those of you who don't know what forge is, its a client that lets you use multiple mods at once. Personally, I think the best 2 mods that are used for PvP on cubecraft are optifine and damage indicator mods.
Opfitine : Allows you to zoom into objects and players in a far distance
Damage indicator: Shows HP of players and mobs, and shows the damage dealt, taken and healed. Also shows status effects.
Never used forge before? Don't worry, just follow these easy steps.
First off, go to
You will see something like this
Click on installer or installer-win if you're using Windows, doesn't matter if its Windows 7, 8 or 10 or whatever versions.
Once downloaded, click on it and install it, this should create a new profile on default for you for your minecraft which will look like this when you open your minecraft launcher.
You're almost done! Now go to the optifine website and download the optifine mod for yourself, link is below. Just follow the steps on the website, it should be simple as 123.
Once downloaded, pull the file into your mods folder in your .minecraft folder, to get to your .minecraft folder follow the steps below. For windows users, open any folder and on top of it, type in %appdata% like so
Then hit the enter button, you should see your .minecraft folder. Go into it, and you should see your mods folder, just drag the optifine file inside. DO NOT EXTRACT IT, leave it as .jar file
Note: If you do not have a mods folder inside the .minecraft folder, don't worry, just right click anywhere, new, folder, and name it mods
Yay we now have optifine!
Now for the damage indicator, there are plenty of choices out there but what I use is the one below!
Just download it and pull it into your mods folder like what you did to your optifine mod.
And we're done! Now launch your minecraft as usual and it should load, your mods should be working as well ! Fiddle with the options and placement of the damage indicator and you should be good to go!

That's all I have for now, if you have tips and tricks that you think should be included in this post, do post a comment below and I'll add it in if needed.
Hope this will help players improve on their PvP and enjoy the game further than they already have. Cheers and have fun.
Note: If you have issues installing or downloading, do drop me a pm I'll help you get it done!
