Quick Introduction: I have played consistently on the Bedrock server for about 6 months (IGN: Modulo 7), am level 79 as of writing this, and have totaled over 6000 cumulative wins. Although I have the most wins in blockwars - approaching 3000 - the game I have spent by far the most time in is Survival Games. I had been on the Java server before, but didn't really play much.
I log on periodically to Java (IGN: ModuloSeven) to check on the leaderboards (since they're not on the website) and to see what the featured game is. That's why today, when I saw solo SG as the featured game, I played my first dedicated session of games on the Java network. First off, I am not accustomed at all to PvP on Java. I know how to strafe, I know how to sprint reset, but not click slow. Additionally, the loot tables in Java include lava buckets and shields, which are not present in bedrock loot tables. I was struggling to deal with people lava bucket spamming me as well as people perpetually hiding behind their shield. Second, although I am very familiar with the SG maps on Bedrock, I am not accustomed at all to the Java exclusive maps and found it hard to find loot, especially on maps like Fantasy and Underwater (I think those are the map names). Thirdly, there are certainly a higher proportion of good Java players than Bedrock players. Maybe it was because the game JUST got featured, but I ran into several players who are on leaderboards such as Democrise. Needless to say I got clapped by them (but not flawlessed thankfully). I will probably play some more solo SG since its still featured, and I certainly will continue to get clapped. I am improving tho, and I think it would be cool to someday be on both solo SG lederboards.
Personally, I think it is really cool seeing people try out the other server. A vast majority of Bedrock players will likely struggle with PvP as I have, and I feel many Java players may also struggle with cps mattering and the different build mechanics on Bedrock. I would like to see people give the other server a try and share their thoughts and experiences either through comments here or through other threads in the forums.
