Stop spreading lies. In March 2017, Hypixel said that 61% of the server was on 1.8. By October, this number shrunk to 49%, so 1.9+ is now the majority. If the same rate continued, 1.9+ now makes up 57% of the sever, or 4 out of 7 people.
Let's start with the non-SMP multiplayer. Java edition has about 20 million active players at any given time. Hypixel has 50,000 on average. That's
a quarter of one percent. If 600k log on to Hypixel daily, that's 3%. If Hypixel's logins represent about 20% of total server logins, that's 3 million daily players with 35% and decreasing on 1.8. From 15% of Minecraft's community, thats 5.3% 1.8 and 9.7% 1.9+
And don't forget, that's 1.8 most friendly community. The next closest is the modders / modded community, which based purely off the number of mods an the amount of people playing is roughly 70% 1.10.2 / 1.12 and 30% 1.7.10. This is about 3% of the community, for 2.1% 1.10+ and 0.9% 1.8
And now for the death community to this argument. About 97% of survival (including SMP) players are on 1.9+, which
is 55% of the Minecraft Java players (and om Bedrock its nearly 80%) . With 97% of 1.9+, survival communities make are 53.4% 1.9+ and 1.6% 1.8-
And the remaining communities, composed of builders, redstone makers, mapmakers, realms players, educational coders, professional coders, and the rest are nearly 100% 1.12. I'll consider this 99% 1.12 for 26.7% 1.12 and 0.3% everything else (including 1.9-1.11)
So let's do the math:
1.8 - 5.3 + 0.9 + 1.6 + 0.3 = 8.1%
1.12 - 9.7 + 2.1 + 53.4 + 26.7 = 91.9%
So yea how about you do some research
