Alright, here's an idea for a cool minigame. Although, suggestions for a better game name would be great!
1) Battle Siege- I was planning to try to build this a while back, but I never got around to doing it. So, what we would have is a castle wall, the defenders and the attackers. Here are the roles:
Basic Synopsis
This game is meant to resemble what an actual medieval battle would look like. There would be no/extremely slow health regeneration, as actual troops cannot become fully healed within 20 minutes of a real battle. Also, there would be one life for all players, as you cannot reincarnate in real life after you die.
A horde of enemy troops (zombies) will charge at the enemy castle wall. Their primary target will always be the villager inside it, but if any players come into view, they will change targets. The defenders will have to kill and prevent them from reaching the many castle walls, using special abilities to assist them. However, attacking players will help advance these troops towards the wall, killing any defenders in sight. They will destroy the walls and move slowly through the multi-layered wall system (the attackers will have to break through many walls) and eventually to the final castle, where they will slay the king. However, they only have a certain time period to do so, before their "resources" run out and the defenders win. There will be many blocks/traps/obstacles to slow their advance. This will be a one sided castle wall, so the fighting will only be on one side. However, adding all sides could add another strategic aspect, and would actually be more fun, but laggier for the server.
Extra Notes to Remember
-Terrain destruction is on, to help create trenches and hills that can be used to help strategy.
-Natural regeneration is off/low, increasing the importance of healers, and preventing a constant onslaught of attackers and creating the need of a more cautious strategy.
-Attackers should always outnumber the defenders, or should somehow be buffed to make the fight more fair. However, many trials should be done to see what buffs and nurfs should be given. Defenders might be underpowered, who knows?
-EVERY player has ONE life, and ONE life only <- big part of the game
-There is a votekick system to get rid of trolls ingame, but only for players on the same team. They then will be reported on the forums later, and every player kicked will send an alert to staff.
-Any suggestions are appreciated!
Players
35-50 (Defenders should always outnumber the attackers)
(15-20 attackers, 20-30 defenders)
Attackers
You are on the field, helping the enemy troops advance towards the wall, where they would achieve victory. You cannot win the game yourself by getting to the wall, but you can clear a path for your troops by getting rid of their defenders.
You can choose multiple kits such as....
Knight- You will clear the path for your fellow troops! Use your sword and armor to charge forward in the field, fighting off any defending knights on the field. You can stay back and advance your troops to victory, or charge into the castle itself to kill all defenders, especially archers inside the castle wall.
Archer- Not the best at charging in head-to-head? Then pick off the enemy's heads poking above the castle wall! You are equipped with a bow and arrow and a weak sword. You will stay behind and weaken and perhaps kill their players on the enemy wall. Careful though, as enemy knights can easily kill you with your weak armor, and enemy archers can kill you also.
Hero- This kit is not selectable, and each game will pick one person randomly to have this kit. You will have better armor, weapons, and in addition, one regular golden apple. You can easily kill enemy players, but a swarm of troops and players can leave your extremely vulnerable. Not to mention, you need to worry about the defender's own hero, just as powerful as you are. So, will you charge and leave a path for your troops to follow, but vulnerable? Or stay back with your own troops and kill any defenders that dare come forth?
Catapult- This kit will only be available to a limited amount of people. (The choosing process is up to you, but please do not make it a donor kit) You will have extreme slowness and mining fatigue, but high strength, capable of dishing out high amounts of damage at slow intervals. You will have your one explosive snowball, that returns once every 15 seconds. Your "cannonball" (snowball) will create an explosion that can kill enemy soldiers, or highly weaken them. You can also destroy obstacles to clear a path for your own troops. However, you are EXTREMELY vulnerable, easily killed, and you will be a target. So, your team will have to make sure to protect you, as you are another crucial part of the game.
Ladder-men- You are the risk-taker. You are the martyr who can die easily, but create your team's victory. You are equipped with many ladders, and your task is to create a ladder path up the castle wall for your team's knights to charge up and kill the defenders. Otherwise, your team has to break through the stone brick wall first by hand, then charge up from behind and attack the exposed defenders. However, placing your ladders down in the front of the castle wall will save your team from many crucial seconds of a long alternate route. You are the most exposed player in the game, with no armor and just ladders and a weak sword. However, your team will <hopefully> be defending you, as you will create the path for them to charge through. You can lead your team to victory.
Foot Soldier- This kit is not selectable at all. The soldiers are the zombies that are required to break down the walls that players cannot. They outnumber all the players in the game., and have decent armor and swords that are capable of killing players. They will target the villager a.k.a. the wall, but they will first target what is closest to them, enemy players and/or soldiers.
Healer- This kit is available to only a limited amount of people. The healers will receive weak armor and a limited amount of health potions. The healer will have to use these on people that most need them, since after their supplies run out, they can do no more. They are also important since natural regeneration is so slow.
Horsemen- Join the cavalry and charge into battle with your loyal companion! Fight enemy cavalry and strike down on the enemy foot soldiers as well as you ride around the battlefield! (Cavalry could also be equipped with weaker bows if wanted)
Defenders
You are on a castle wall, keeping the horde of zombies back. You can fulfill your primary objective by keeping the weaker enemy troops at hand, but this will go bad, as their own players can change the gameplay entirely. You can pick multiple kits, such as....
Knight- Charge valiantly into battle! This kit is equipped with an iron sword (changeable) and armor. You would pick this kit to jump down onto the field to kill the enemy soldiers, or/and the enemy players. You would not be standing on top of the wall, shooting from a distance, you would be fighting directly on the battlefield.
Archer- Shoot from a distance to hold back the enemy! You are equipped with a bow and a wooden sword. (changeable) You are top of the castle wall, shooting at zombies and/or players. However, while you can assist from afar, if enemy troops get onto your castle wall, you will have to retreat or fight with your weakened position. (Knights have better swords)
Hero- This kit is not selectable. The player with this kit is selected randomly in the entire game, with only one person actually having this kit. The hero is crucial to the game. He will have better, but not overpowered armor than everyone else. He will have A SINGLE golden (regular) apple that he can use at any time. His sword will be better also. The hero can change the tide in a fight, but once he is dead, the other team will have a major advantage, since they have their own hero. So, what will you do as hero? Take the advantage and charge, forcing a wedge for you team to pass through? Or stay behind and act like a wall, stalling all attackers from advancing? The hero will be a very crucial part of the gameplay.
Foot Soldier- This kit is not selectable. The soldiers are zombies, with decent armor and swords. They are the same as attacking soldiers, except their primary objectives is to kill all enemy zombies and players.
Healer- Same to attacking team's healer, except that the healer can be anywhere inside the castle.
Catapult- Same to attacking team's catapult.
Horsemen- Same to attacking team's horsemen.
Special Abilities
For both
Hire Mercenaries- Both teams can hire mercenaries that can serve for their own team. Each time can only hire so many, and they can serve to help assist their own teams. Mercenaries can only be knights.
Castle Wall Details
-There will be archer slits scattered around the wall to help make defending archers harder to kill.
-There will be an faster fence gate sticking outside of the wall that is easier to capture for the attackers, but there will be several archer slits inside, similar to a medieval murder hole. This will make more strategy for the attackers, whether or not to take the faster but harder fence gate that leads into the heart of the castle.
-Defenders will restock on limited ammunition in the armory, a static building inside the castle wall. They will need to run down, grab supplies, then resume their position.
-Attackers will restock on limited supplies by running to moving supply tents on the battlefield, slightly behind the main force. These tents will move as outer castle walls are captured.
<I need more suggestions, remember they have to appear in real medieval battles!>
Wow, don't type long suggestions like these on iPads ever again, this took forever to type :/
