Then my question is the following ..

Why are the votes lost when I re-edit the plot?

What could be done about it?

To eliminate a plot if it would suppose losing the votes (normal)

Its actually quite simple. You could have a great build thats on the top plots but you want to try something new. You edit your plot destroy everything and build something new. Maybe the new build isnt that good and doesnt deserve all the votes.
