Hi CubeCrafters,
We're looking to expand our team over the coming months to help us deliver better content both on the server and as part of the marketplace team. I want to just take a moment to explain why we're hiring the roles which we are and what we hope this will help us to achieve. This isn't something we've done in the past but as part of our commitment to the community, I feel like it's worth keeping you all in the loop.
Interested in working for us already and don't want to read my waffle? Click here to go to the jobs page.
We're hiring in three areas:
The server engine team doesn't currently exist. We are creating this team to focus on Anticheat, performance and base game functionality. CubeCraft has unique challenges as although we are one network we operate across three distinct Minecraft platforms (1.8, 1.9+ and Bedrock).
Minecraft has a habit of releasing new versions (annoying, right? ;) ) and we need to ensure that we keep up to date with the latest versions of the Minecraft client whilst maintaining backwards compatibility with previous versions. Don't forget - we have to keep up to date both on Java and Bedrock!
Sentinel, our anti-cheat, currently doesn't have a dedicated developer. This isn't a situation we want to be in but we're taking this opportunity to restructure where Sentinel sits. Previously Sentinel has sat on top of our server engine analysing player behaviours and acting off that. Going forwards we are wanting to bake Sentinel in to become part of our core server software. This will remove some of the performance bottlenecks we have and allow us to develop new & unique strategies going forward. In the immediate future, we're borrowing dev resources from other projects to try and maintain and improve our current iteration of Sentinel.
We've done some really ambitious tech projects in the past few months. Mainly in preparation for the Skyblock release but they have been applied across the entire network. This includes stuff like our custom world-saving, chunk queuing (this makes world loading on 1.13+ much faster) and entity management. There are more performance and platform work to be done across the network which we currently just don't have the capacity to do.
@rubik_cube_man has basically done all of our server engine work for the past year or so. Although Rubik is a phenomenal developer it's important that we have others who can take the reigns under rubik's guidance to allow him to focus on other exciting projects... :)
The roles we are wanting to fill in this team:
Product and Project Team
2020 has already been a busy year for us. We feel we are shipping better content than ever and we've got some great updates in the works which I can't wait to share with you (look out for some forum update news I'll be sharing in the next week or so!). The marketplace team has also massively grown in size and is releasing more items than ever before.
@Camezonda is currently our Product Manager, they look after specifications, QA, coordination, marketing and releases for all of our content. Cam is basically a superhero who can carry an extraordinary amount of ongoing projects but we've now got to the point where he's looking to bring someone on to help him coordinate everything going on. Since "jr cam" isn't really an industry-accepted role title, we'll be looking to bring on an Associate Producer to join Cam's team! We're accepting both internal and external applications to this role.
I'm very excited to announce that we are running a digital marketing apprenticeship. Apprenticeships are a UK form of Further education where you have a genuine job whilst receiving relevant training. Many of us here at CubeCraft learnt skills whilst working for CubeCraft and it's great that we now have an opportunity to pass these experiences on in a structured fashion.
The roles we are wanting to fill in this team:
Design Team
Have you been keeping up to date with all the awesome content the design team have been producing? The design team, which @Efcluke94 looks after, produces all of our marketplace content on top of all the game maps you see and love on the network.
This team has gone from strength to strength in the past few months and is making an extraordinary amount of content for both the network and for the marketplace. To help cope with this continuing growth we're looking to bring on more pixel artists and builders and also artists skilled in 3D renders and graphic design to support and showcase the amazing content which goes out.
The roles we are wanting to fill in this team:
If you have any questions or thoughts I'd be happy to hear them. I will try to answer as much as I can!
Hoping you are all safe and well!
Happy CubeCrafting!
