I just saw a rant about Fifa20, a game I play, unfortunately, too. And I’m honestly great I hold Minecraft on Cubecraft in my heart. A thread with some appreciation, with still a critical undertone towards EA.
I’ll be assessing the following points
-Cosmetics
I think Cubecraft does a great job on keeping payed stuff, cosmetic only. For example, when I play quakecraft on Hypixel, I get screwed by people with ranks who have better guns, that are non accessible for normal players. Moreover, that silly football game uses lootboxes, luckily banned in belgium, that makes you spend money that actually improves your gameplay.
Cubecraft however, afaik, has never had any feature that makes you pay to become better at something. (Except the enderpearl kit in 2013-ish, but thats long gone). I think it’s a beginner friendly server. You can grind for points to get better kits and abilities, rank or no rank, you need to grind the same amount.
-Bug fixes
This is hard one, since as we speak, there are still many unfinished bugs. However, greatly underrated, in many update threads there is always a section “bug fixes”. They include small or major quality life changes that are very welcome. Yes, not all of them get fixed, but the unfixed ones get mentioned and they admit that there are unfixed ones and they have less priority. This immediately brings me up to the next point
-Admittance
There have been lies, staff split, all that nonsense, but recently there have been many threads, especially by @Zed , that concern the community. This may all be false and some major chances are still welcome. But they admit it. This is way better than companies that censure critic notes, deny proven facts and continue if nothing has happened in the past. Admittance is the first step and I think Cubecraft did a great job on it.
-Gameplay
Tryharders, tryharders everywhere. I always used to complain about tryharders who ruin the game and I wanted to quit. Recently I played skywars again and I got to say, it was somewhat enjoyable. The game is pretty fun and I see the tryharders as a harder challenge to overcome. While infection got removed and the variety of games did shrink majorly over time, the games that are around are still all unique and fun in their own way. I also felt like playing Minerware again and it makes up for the lack of Arcade games that I used to play.
-Servers
I NEVER experienced any disconnect on Cubecraft (only two, one that was caused by a mouse who ate the network cable and one where my mum who burned down the wifi router after I played Blockband for too long). This might be different to people from other timezones but speaking for myself I’m happy with the current connection. Different than that one crap football game where I get disconnected on a daily base.
-Enjoyment
There is still a vast amount of toxicity on Cubecraft, but this doesnt result into me breaking my PSN controller or graving a hole into my wardrobe. When I lose I just click on the Play again button and there’s only a loss added to my stats which results in nothing. Some of my sporadic friends that are still online will accompany me in a party and we’ll play through many fun and less fun, but still acceptable games. When I break an egg, I don’t feel the audicity to launch some silly goal celebration onto someone’s head. It’s just part of the game and I can continue without someone pressing a pausing menu, wanting me to leave, thrice.
-Not being EA
