I've grown to really like 1.9 pvp, it's genuinely way harder than 1.8 and usually, the better player also actually wins, which in 1.8 is not always the case.
Please note though, they're not just yeeting the Bedrock pvp-style (which is pretty much like the 1.8 system) back into Java. (which is what your poll is suggesting, you actually haven't included the new system in your poll at all).

They're creating some kind of merge in between where you can only attack once your recharge bar is completely full again, which makes spamclicking somewhat viable again, however, in this new system you're also able to simply hold down the attack button and the sword or whatever will attack automatically the moment she recharges. This to me alone sounds like a terrible system. However, they also added a thing where the sword keeps recharging after it's completely full, which enables some kind of special attack (extra knockback, extra damage, extra sweep etc.). This could make for interesting pvp fights where players decide to not fight back untill their weapon of choice is 200% recharged.

They're also experimenting with the range on weapons, some now have more and some have less. This will likely result in the axe having less range than the sword, making it utterly useless in PvP. I'd hope for the management to edit all tools to have the same universal range, in the case they eventually adopt the new PvP system.

Which honestly, they probably will, Cube has always updated their servers to the newest Java edition to make use of the new features and blocks they come with. I don't think they'll ever refuse an update. I also don't really care about how good I am in the current PvP system, I do think a new way of fighting could set everyone back a little. Which'd be refreshing for once.

Not sure if some people know or not, but I love 1.8 PvP over 1.9 PvP, any day. I just tried out the Combat Test 5, and yes it does feel more like 1.8 PvP, but there's a hint of 1.9 combat. For example, if I spam-click a Creeper, they take the same amount of hits to die as if it was in 1.8, but there's tiny amounts in the fight where you cannot hit. Also... when I spam-clicked the Creeper, they get SOOOOO much knockback, to the point where they are nearly flying :D

Personally, if I had full control of CubeCraft, I'd change it to 1.8, but at the end of the day, it's not what I want, it's what the community wants. Since we dropped full 1.8 combat on our network, most of our players are 1.9 combat users, so if we made a poll to change "yes or no", it's obvious that "no" would win, because the current (1.9) players just want to keep the combat system as it is.

Within Management, of course we've spoken about the huge elephant in the room, which is the new combat system. But we're not 100% solid on a plan yet. Rather than seeing what the CubeCraft community feels is better, we'd like to hear what the overall Minecraft Community likes. We'd like to have a fair opinion on the matter, compared to a biased community, which is mainly made up of 1.9 players, which makes complete sense. If we want our network to grow, we need to cater to other players and newer players, not just our current users, otherwise we stay as we are with no growth, and I think it's safe to say that we all don't want that.

In conclusion, the combat test is okay for me, as I'm a 1.8 player mainly. And CubeCraft will need to decide on a decision in the future based off all of the community feedback, CubeCraft's and Minecraft's combined. Only time will tell :):confused1:

I would like to have a (1.17) FFA server to test out the new combat mechanics, tridents, crossbows, new enchantments, etc. in the future

Other features like scaffolding, observers, concrete and coral would be nice additions as well, for trapping and building maps

Having a 1.17 combat server to play on would be the dream, I feel like it’s kind of risky but perhaps CubeCraft could just drop all support of 1.8 combat since 1.17 is relatively similar. (And versions 1.9, 1.10 and 1.11 can stop being supported too. Not 1.12 though since it’s currently the best performing version for multiplayer) But one thing is for sure, CubeCraft should definitely support the new PvP mechanics because it’s evident the other big servers won’t do it, since they didn’t even want to pass onto 1.9 combat.

But personally I’d like CubeCraft dropping all old versions and only supporting the latest one. It would be extremely useful for maps, to bring new mobs to Tower Defence, more weapons for PvP games and so much more. CubeCraft is just missing out on so much content. And I’m sure many people would be hyped for a completely updated large server network. It hasn’t been seen since 1.9.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t agree on this. The main focus is to make the current player base feel satisfied.

For example, by having a new combat system. I don’t know whether this update itself would be a viable thing.

However, when you focus on a wider arrange of people, you might attract newer people, but you’ll also lose older ones as has happened in the past. If you make them feel satisfied, you could further expand on this, but within the line of the current community. They should be prioritised in my opinion.

As a side note: maybe it’s different with a combat update. I’m not a big fan of PvP at all. So I’ll be satisfied anyway.

Alright, so, I’m going to be trying to add 2FA onto my account again. Last time I tried to do it I got locked out of my account. But, that was about 2 years ago, and I would like to have extra account security so hopefully it works this time. Just letting y’all know in case I’m suddenly inactive (which means I probably got locked out again 😝).
