Hello there! My name is Martijn and I'm 15 years old. I'm a Belgium state-citizen and my suggestion I want to submit is the following:

"Discord Chat-guards" --) Players who will help the moderators 1) by inspecting the voice & text channels by deleting messages that are offensive or messages who fall under advertisement and are against the rules. 2) Inspecting the voice channels to get offensive players in any way instantly punished by the chat-moderators. I use the discord-server a lot to use voice channels and speak on a polite way to other players of the network. A few days ago, I got discriminated by nationality and a few sexual offenses. At that time I was NOT enable to use a free recording software by some reasons that I want to hold private. Anyway: Many players use this discord voice channels and there are many players who are offensive in anyway, like race, sex, nationality and there are some players who use music to annoy other players. There are some users too who are switching from channel to channel to channel to get other people annoid. So especially for this offenses I want to create a Moderation-team who will maintain order. Moderators are not enable to help ALL the time because they need to maintain order ingame too and on the forums, so especially for discord I want an anonymous team of polite and helpful people who will and stay anonymous and punish this users. The psychology of the human: The human is a complex creature who is not open for new things and feautures. Maybe we can change this and be open for new ideas to keep the cubecraft discord-server clean of uncivilized users.

I understand why you wanna add this but I personally will think that this will bring more problems with it. You can't stay 100% anonymous because if someone is using something annoying/unrespectfull you'll still need to warn or alert the people on what they did wrong. The people who will be choosen as a discord moderator will also have a lot of perms on the discord server to mute/unmute/move people areound in the voice channels. They will also be able to remove messages. This can be one of the biggest problems. You can't trust people for 100% but if they do something wrong they will make sure that it goes very wrong. By this I mean that those poeople have a lot of perms so they can do bad damage to the discord server. Third thing I wanan say is that the people who got selected to take this opportunity will also fit in the staff team so If you really wanna add them just give them a spot in the staff team. They will be very trustable and they will probably have the same skills as a normal member has. By this I mean that all the people who got selected also have the same chances to become a helper on the server because they will need to get used with the perms and they also need to help people out. Cubecraft is one of the biggest minecraft servers so it will be impossible to add strangers to the discord moderator team. You really need to add a big amount of people to that team to make sure that no one breaks a rule, I mean everyone has lives so ofcource it will take a bit longer to catch rule breakers on the discord server. At the moment I don't think that cubecraft needs such a team because there're some really active staff members who remove innapropriate content from the discord server in just a couple minutes. It can always be that it takes a little bit longer but I am sure that the player will get punished for breaking a rule. Btw if you just tag a staff member and you tell your story he/she will answer you as soon as possible, you can also try to private message an online staff member.

I often find there are people swearing or breaking the rules in the discord voice chat and there has never been a staff on to fix it. I normally move channel or mute them but this is tiring. I think the discord moderators is a good idea as it would reduce rule breaking. I appreciate your concern for trusting the discord mods but they can just have a process similar to the server staff apps. There are no untrustworthy staff on the server so if the process is the same then there will be less rule breaking with no consequence.

Have you ever thought about direct messaging staff? Yes, they’re busy but staff tend to see your messages (they get notifications) and will typically respond quite quick. For example, I tend to message @ChaosConjurer for questions or if I need help with something Cubecraft related and she gets back to me at her earliest convenience. I like your idea, but I think that we already have dedicated users put in place to help with this and actually do help.

If I have a near-immediate response, by a moderator, about a question I have.. I just struggle to see why you wouldn’t have one as well, about a concern you have in the channel, since it’s of higher priority.

“Hey, (mod) there’s this one individual in the Cubecraft discord who isn’t following the chat rules and I’m wondering if you could join momentarily and help by regulating it briefly?”

Sometimes I feel like people request for a rank similar to a staffs’ rank because they are just trying to fit in with the “staff” title, these type of ranks would just be annoying and please people that are requesting for these ranks please stop it’s just annoying and it just makes you look like an annoying kid that wants to be a staff

Well, it is what a moderator signed up for, and you can just as easily point these things out in staff-help. No need to give non-staff members staff utilities just for reasons that the staff are supposed to do already.

Honestly, things could be better moderated if the existing staff (not talking about all of them, just some of them) were more active and more integrated with the community (in more ways than one). Getting together a whole other group that the higher staff have to look out for is just more work for the existing staff and it wouldn't work well.

I do agree with this suggestion but how would they get users to help? I feel like the users who want to help are helping the way they can. And if I see a person on the discord swearing and stuff, I first tell a staff member and if they can get them then boom. If they cant get evidence or they tell me to record I use my GeForce graphics card as it has an “alt+z” function which really helps me in many cases. So if you have the time, I suggest you download geforce experience, the desktop app and that way you can enable screen recording then you dont have to even have anything open, and there is not water mark UNLESS you are on the desktop as it will show you pressing the start button.
But that is what I suggest how to handle bad people on the cubecraft discord!
