I think you should be able to pick the map also when picking which kit to play in. It would allow players who pay for the ability to pick kits have more versatility and feel satisfied getting their moneys worth.

doesn't it let you pick a map from the battle arena lobby

It lets you pick a map for FFA in Battle Arena only not duels. In duels you can only pick kits not the maps.
