What should happen to the "egg autobreak" feature in Eggwars

  • Leave it as is now (disappears after ~8 seconds)

  • Revert it to the old system (disappears after ~5 minutes)

  • Remove it completely. Eggs stay indefinitely.

In Eggwars, eggs tend to disappear if the team/player has left the game. Usually this isn't all that bad when you think about it, but there's a problem that exists mainly in solo Eggwars:
There are countless people who ragequit after dying once, and then they quit. Normally I wouldn't hate this, except for when I'm going to their island to break their egg. The egg ends up disappearing before I can break it because of the ragequitting (which, mind you, isn't intended to be part of the game).
Just for some perspective: Last game I eliminated 6 people, of which 3 ragequit before I could break their egg.
The only times I actually manage to get their egg after they quit, is if I'm already standing right next to it with a diamond pickaxe (egg is usually covered). Even then I need to pay close attention to whether they're in the game or not.

Before this was changed last update, the system worked just fine. Eggs would stay for ~5 minutes before they automatically disappeared, and I liked it that way. In fact, I don't recall anyone even complaining about that, nor is it completely unfair. I'd like to suggest a revert back to this system so we can actually have the egg after we go through the trouble of attacking their island just like as if the player(s) had never left.
Right now, there's nothing to discourage people leaving the game, and if they do quit, they end up messing the attack up by having their egg disappear, leaving the attacker with dissatisfaction and no broken egg.

I know that some of you will think "Well, that's nice and all, but you're still progressing through the game, right?"
The problem doesn't concern progressing, but it does concern messing with how the game would've progressed under intended circumstances. If the player hadn't quit, we would've been able to get the egg as intended.

Oh and don't even get me started on having the very last player leave the game.

Summarized: Eggs automatically break after the team way too quickly now. I'd like to revert it back to the old system where it takes ~5 minutes.

Yeah, I feel your pain on this. I get this a lot. I'd prefer it to be reverted back to the old system rather than staying until someone breaks it or the game ends.

I completely agree with this. I’ve missed out on so many eggs because after I’ve killed the person, they quit and the gg disappears as I am breaking the obsidian. I would either like your suggestion, or have it so only teams that were never in the game don’t have eggs. That way, if someone leaves during the actual game, their egg would stay until the game ends or someone breaks it. :)

I'd give it a minute max
Just because keeping the egg forever would become incredibly confusing to players who don't know where they are
And 5 minutes might have the same effect
So here's a distinction I would like to make: I am voting for 5 minutes on the poll but am only going to be asking for 1

I think it should be reverted as well. It is annoying when that happens even though it is only a game and its only an egg AND it is only 6 points, but still. They rage quit because they are "salty" and at that point, it doesn't seem fair at all.

Yes, I agree with this idea, because I have the same problem!

Very well argumented suggestion and it also looks like it also has quite a bit of positive feedback, will most definitely bring it up where it can be seen, to the attention of well the people in charge of modifying the games.

I've personally felt the same, nothing wirse than not being able to get those +6pts, and a lot of players quit nowadays before you get to their egg. Those missed +6pts really add up !

i feel like you're judging me

Now I'm not gonna say the poll was completely one-sided, but there are a solid 0 votes for the current system.

@Capitan I'm guessing you wanted to be that one guy that voted against?
Anyways, how come you voted for that?
He's probably a vegetarian. No but seriously, i see no reason why not to change it back! It's an advantage for everyone. You'll get the egg and your well-deserved points, the other players will have more time, because you'll actually need some time to break the egg and the eventual obsidian. It's only a disadvantage for the people who ragequited, but who cares about them. Also, 5 minutes seemed fine to me as well.

I'm going to wait to see what more people think of this.
Am not vegetarian, I too like to scramble those eggs after dealing with the chicken that covered them.
Not easy when the eggs dissapear as soon as the the chicken runs away though...

Just don't remove the egg at all, only for the islands which did not get a player in the first place should have the egg removed.

Well, I voted that option for a personal reason. I usually have problems detecting islands colors + I play eggwars in "rusher" style. I go mid, and check others eggs, and if there's an egg in the island, I go there to destroy it. If a team/player leaves (or never joins to the game), and the egg stills there for minutes, probably I will spend time going to destroy that egg instead of going to another team/player. Of course, this only happens in early-game and with maps with eggs easily viewable,

Again, i voted that option only for personal reasons, not because " i wanted to be that one guy that voted against" :p

I see. I usually go for islands which appear to have an egg on them myself too. However, this doesn't play much of a role in the problem that I mentioned in the thread, being that a player can leave while your on their island preparing to break their egg. This would result in your dilemma, but then in a worse way as you can't even check it before they'd leave.
Anyways, if you really wanted to eliminate players alone, you could simply use the scoreboard or tab to check which colours are still alive. I use it all the time.

In the latest EggWars update, the disappearing of the egg was increased from 10 seconds to 1 minute. It's not a lot, but it'll be helpful in some situations :)
