I suggest adding in a set of iron armor in the shop that has an extra 0.375 armor(for a whole extra 1.5 armor when wearing full set), and a sword that has an extra 0.5 or 1 damage. This is to discourage camping at your base island since people that are at mid will be slightly stronger than those who stayed at their base.

The extra 1.5 won't make these people unkillable(if you have played kit pvp OP no helmet=lots of dmg) , and the extra 0.5 or 1 damage will just make killing people slightly quicker.

I think it's great idea but I'm not with you at " This is to discourage camping at your base " I think punch bow will do better that emerald gears since the emerald generator take forever to get 1 only =]

Someone calculated its 50 seconds per emerald

not to useful since you can get diamond armor which is double that and no itdosent discourage camping there are a few elements that actually discourage anticamping

Hardcore mode
Hackers
Professional pvpers
Bows
God apples
Golden apples
Mid bridge camping
Stupid players
Suicide Deathchargers
Spleefers

I could go on...

*sigh* Does nobody understand that you can camp mid too?

I do but I don't think it's regarded as big as a problem as base camping because:

1. It's nowhere near as common as base camping.

2. When people do camp mid they tend to do it to gain resources, not for defencive or movement restrictive purposes.

3. There are a lot more ways to tackle it like using other bases or stategic positions to get around the campers in mid.

and

4. When they camp mid they are much more likely to get cheesed by another team (or one of your more sneaky teammates) as they are spreading their forces too thinly. They can't watch every entrance to their own base when they are concentrating on keeping their enemies out of mid.

That's why it's so painful to deal with, you can't always figure out new ways to combat it because of it being so rare.

Oh yes they do alright!
This is the worst possible way of camping, ESPECIALLY if you have no active diamond gen.
They can choose to throw out 16 lives just to TNT bridges as a suicide charge.

Considering they'll have a view of pretty much the entire map, I don't think it'll be as easy.

If it's a skilled team with melee, they won't have any issues. And they'll probably keep an eye out on their neighbors more than anything.

Alright you make some good points. I'm gonna admit, I havn't really been in many situations where a dominating team has taken mid and won't let me or my team leave our own island, so I can't really argue.

I will just say that (like we both said) those situations are a lot rarer than what base camping is, so it's not a great priority to fix straight away in my opinion. Besides, if something gets added to the game to combat base campers ie. Elytra, enderpearls, speical arrows, tnt cannon thingymajigs etc. it will more than likely be useful against those who camp mid too.

I just hope something does actually get added, because right now just having emerald generators isn't enough to persuade campers to move their booties...

You can camp at mid,but the difference is that you are not near a villager, and you are at the focus of attention so a lot of teams could be planning your demise(specially since emerald gen gens slowly). Also you could get knocked off while trying to return from mid, unlike base camping where that isn't really a risk since you won't leave your base. If the team is pro and they control mid whose fault is it?(it's the other team's)

In order to be camping mid, you'll have to have at least 1 island.

and you are at the focus of attention so a lot of teams could be planning your demise
Obviously, but that's why the camping part is so damn frustrating (Explained below).

Also you could get knocked off while trying to return from mid
With what bow? If you're the first one at mid, and have gotten a bow before anyone has returned with diamonds, you're al set!
Just camp mid with a teammate and then let another teammate stay at the base for protection. After a while, other teams will take each other out and the campers will be the only ones with diamonds.
This is far worse than normal islands, because then all teams have a shot at mid.

unlike base camping where that isn't really a risk since you won't leave your base.
Mid camping = Camping the middle island ALONG with another base with a villager.
is there a bridge in between? No problem!
Just wall it up with glass and you're set!

If the team is pro and they control mid whose fault is it?(it's the other team's)
Having the luck where they are the only ones that have reached mid and have access to punch bows isn't "professional"

Cool idea but don´t think its really worth it
