Eggwars Tips and Strategies

So, I play a lot of solo eggwars and I see a lot of people that don't know how to play the game well. This is a guide to help new players on their way to victory. Let's go!

What to Vote For

Voting for certain item types is beneficial on some maps. However, if you want to get lots of wins stick with normal health. This is a helpful hint for gold+ players that want lots of wins.

Hardcore: Play this on any maps with lots of gold and iron at center, or connected island maps
Includes But is Not Limited To:
Teepee, Mine, End, Teaparty, Vegetables

Normal: Play this on maps that fit neither the hardcore nor OP specifications.
Includes But is Not Limited To:
Dwarven, Fairground, Pizza

Overpowered: Play this on maps with far distances between islands, or with minimal resources at center.
Includes But is Not Limited To:
Under da sea, Aztec, Candy, Construction

How to Protect Your Egg

There are 6 blocks that can be used to protect your egg; sandstone, glass, glowstone, hay, obsidian, and chests.

Sandstone
This is the basic block to protect your egg, and you can cover an egg up with 5 iron, or 10 sandstone.
Breaking Times
Fist: 4
Eff 1 Stone: .3
Eff 1 Iron: .18
Eff 1 Diamond: .18 (It is the same as an iron ;))
Eff 3 Diamond: .1
Shell Cracker Kit: .08

Glass and Glowstone
These blocks are weak, but they can't be underestimated as defense.
Breaking Times
Glass, with anything: 0.45
Glowstone, with anything: 0.75

TIP: Don't dig through these blocks. Blow it up with TNT ;)

Hay

Buffs fall damage, useful as tools don't affect it.
Time to Break: 1.05

TIP: Use TNT on hay as well.

Obsidian

This is the best defense on the egg, as you need a strong pickaxe to get rid of it.

Breaking Times
Nothing: 250
Eff 1 Stone: 50
Eff 1 Iron: 32
Eff 1 Diamond: 8
Eff 3 Diamond: 4.25
Shell Cracker Kit: 16

Note that TNT can not destroy obsidian in eggwars, unlike in factions.

Chest*

Most people don't defend the egg with chests, but it's actually a phenomenal defense against many players.

Breaking Times
Fists, and Pickaxes: 3.75
Wood Axe^: 1.9
Stone Axe^: 0.95
Iron Axe^: 0.65
Diamond Axe^: 0.5

Once again, I'd advise to blow this up with TNT, as if you don't have an axe; this isn't exactly a fast break.
Unfortunately, a chest is NOT a full block, meaning you can hit through the corners and break the egg. :(

The Start of the Game

There are many different paths you can take in eggwars, I'll discuss 3.

Before we get into the strategies, let me discuss the 3 types of maps.

Circular

This is the standard circle around a one-island center, with 4 islands that have a straight line to center,

Bracket

These are maps with one main center and 4 semi-centers, with 2-3 islands on each semi-center.

Ovallic / Non-Standard

This is a map with many centers, and most islands have a straight line.

Mid Rusher

This is what I do 90% of the time.
Choose kit egg armour.
At the very start of the game, get a wood sword, 40 - 60 blocks, and 3 golden apples.

If it is an ovalic map, find the shortest distance possible.
If it is a bracket map, determine if there is a diamond generator on the main center.
If there is, build directly to it, except if you are unfortunately behind the semi-center.
If it is only two level four gold generators, build to semi-center and build to main center from there.
If it is a circular map, find the closest island that has a straight connection to center.
If you're already on it, build to mid.
If you're not, take out that egg, kill them, and then build to mid.

Egg Rusher

This is very simple, just try to take out the islands next to you. However, I would only advise doing this on circular and ovalic maps, due to the far distance between islands on bracket maps.

Mid-Game

Mid Rusher:

Once you arrived at mid, start looting everything there.
You will need:
27 Diamonds
13 Gold

You want:
49/52 Diamonds
70 Gold (64 + 6)
100 Iron


You can get up to 136 diamonds, that will get you one of everything you can purchase with diamonds.

With 27 Diamonds and 13 Gold you can purchase:

1 Diamond Sword
1 Iron Chestplate
1 Iron Leggings
1 Iron Boots
1 Chain Helmet
1 Iron Pickaxe

With 49/52 Diamonds, 70 Gold, and 100 Iron you can buy:

1 Diamond Sword, 1 Iron Chestplate/ Legs/ Boots, 1 Chain Helmet
1 Efficiency 3 Diamond Pickaxe
1 Power OR punch bow
50 Arrows
10 Golden Apples
2 TNT

Egg rushing can be done on any map with the right strategy, it's all about opportunity and timing. On maps where teams islands are close together, build over and break the egg. Sounds simple, but can be challenging. The main goal is to get to the other teams island quickly and undetected. What I usually do is build from my island yo theirs BREAKING THE BRIDGE BEHIND ME, this part is important. Once you get their egg, you don't want them to come back and break yours. Especially if they rush mid, with one or more players away from the base it becomes a numbers game, the less people there to stop you, the better your chances. I've also gone to a teams island, broken their egg, and ran away alive on their own mid bridge. The team got royally screwed by rushing mid, their egg got broken and they gained nothing from the experience. Now on maps that are farther apart it is trickier, but doable. On aztec, go to mid and build up to the top of the building then build over to their island really high. Most people are too busy camping gens under trees or battling at mid to look up. And even if they do notice you, you have the advantage in knocking them down if they try to pillar up to get you.

Although if you're going to specifically go after eggs, I'd suggest forgetting about surviving after getting the egg. If you're thinking about what you're going to do after you gett the egg, before you get the egg, it won't work. Any time wasted is time that the other team can get geared up and start looking for you coming, or time they could use obbying the egg. The goal is to get eggs before they are obbied. And since you're going on a suicide mission, you should only be bringing the essentials: A pick(or 2, I usually have my gold pick for breaking blocks super quick when needed, and a stone/iron pick for their durability for breaking bridges behind me), blocks, and some food. That's it, time used camping a gen longer for armor for a weapon is time against you being able to break an egg.

tl;dr serious egg rushers should get eggs, everything else be damned.

Omg what a waste of gold. I'd much prefer to use a 2 gold gap to kill my enemy (stripping them of their gear) then proceed to break their egg. Rather than a flamboyant 10 gold Tnt and an enemy that kills you. Also you recommend Diamond Swords like they are good, Axes are the future.

this is what i do go to steampunk ( solo match ) vote op get full obby and get gear and dia pick with some gold and break the 3 surrounding eggs and make a bridge to all islands and upgrade all gens to max level in mid and all islands this i what i call lvl 18 dia gen then get ready to kill some people and pearl
