I saw a lot of people posting tips on eggwars, and I thought I would do the same, too, so then you have some ideas on what to do. I have 302 wins and 3,000 kills, so I am no n00b at this game.
Tip 1: PVP and Armour Breakage. Now, this is the obvious one, but before any more tips, you need to make sure you are good at PVP, whether that's 1.9 or 1.8. I am personally better at 1.9, and I know a lot of strategys. The best strategy with 1.9 pvp to counter people who keep eating golden apples is to break their armour. I recommend using a pickaxe (A sword works fine, but it damages faster and you need it for actual hits) and spam clicking with the pick, this will drop their armour down fast. If you use the efficiency 8 pick, you will damage the player and do a LOT of damage to the armour. The player is most vulnerable when his armour is broke. Keep this trick in mind!
Tip 2: Egg Protection and Defence. Now, of course in this game, you have an egg, the vital part of the game. You will want to protect this egg with obsidian, as sandstone will not do anything. Seriously, there is no point covering your egg with 6 layers of sandstone, it will NOT work. Another bad idea is covering your egg with sandstone over the obsidian, why? Because people can hid in the sandstone, and break the egg and you will be completely oblivious as long as they shift.
The next important part of this tip is your defence. Make sure you don't make any walls, this may seem like a good idea to make walls since you wont get shot off. But neither will the opponents, if they come. You want to make sure that people can get shot off if they come, even leaving the bridge is fine, if people walk along it, you can shoot them off. Make sure you use a Punch bow.
Tip 3: Strategy. Now, I am a player who has a certain strategy for a certain map. On the map Storm, I literally just rush bases, but on a map like Kingdom or Instruments, I go to mid, get some diamonds, gear up and rush bases, but other times I flat out rush bases after making it to mid.
Tip 4: Spare Armour and Knockback. You NEED spare armour to survive, especially with leather. If you buy leather your armour will break, especially if people are breaking your armour. I normally go with 4 sets one of them I am wearing, then 3 extra. Another important trick is knowing how to knock people off the correct way. Let's say you do not have a bow, and you want to knock someone off, there are a few ways to knock people off. The first way, and probably the easiest, is to wait at one end of the bridge, and get the correct angle, and knock them off, spam clicking. The second way is to run on the bridge (**NOTE** it is not always a good idea, in case they can knock you off.) you need to look in the direction you want them to be knocked off in, and spam them off.
The third way, and probably the best way, but also the hardest, is to do a Zig Zag trick. You need to make sure your mouse is facing the player, and you need to move side, to side, hitting them, making sure you face forwards. You are basically building up more knockback. If you are still confused, I recommend watching a tutorial HackersDontWin put up on youtube!
Tip 5: Have fun! You can't play this game without having fun. Enjoy yourself. Keep your cool, and if you lose, just play another round!
Tip 6: Don't get too involved in chat. I recommend not getting to involved in the chat, don't falsely accuse hackers unless you are 100% sure they are hacking, don't complain about it, and don't threaten to report them, remember you can't report hackers unless you have Video Proof. A lot of people are going to say 'Hacker, reported, enjoy ban', and stuff like that, don't do that. that is the wrong way to address the situation. If you are going to report, record them, don't say anything, and report them on the forums, you can create an account if you type in chat: /registerreports
