The Free for All PvP servers aren't all what they used to be, what with all the Elytra maps popping up and the flawed kit balancing in some modes. It needs an update to keep it from becoming too unpopular. I suggest an improved balance of kits for all the FFA's, and adding more kits to choose from instead of just the 5. Here's a list of the current kits and what about them needs fixing:
Swordsman - No change is really needed, but it might look cooler with a diamond sword along with a little bit of extra armor, maybe something like full chain with an iron helmet and boots. However, this would mean slightly buffing the other kits also.
Tank - No change needed if balance is a top priority, but it would make more sense for it to have a diamond chestplate & boots and the slowness effect.
Ninja - Needs more armor. People have gotten better at 1.9 PvP since it was last changed, so they won't be able to dodge attacks as frequently.
Archer - Not a lot should be changed except how it looks, but it should have more arrows in the Soup maps so it doesn't use them all on one or two people.
Alchemist - It needs to be able to throw either more potions or have infinite potions with a cooldown timer in Soup mode; same reason as Archer.
OP Mode Versions - The Samurai, Sniper & Wizard kits all need to be beefed up so they're a fair fight against Warrior and Beast. Samurai would probably have full diamond armor without leggings and slightly stronger sword enchantments; Sniper needs protection 2 or 3 on its armor; and Wizard should probably have strength 2 and/or regeneration 2 potions instead of the level 1 potions.
Here are some kickstart ideas for new FFA kits, if some are added:
Enderman / Dragon - Just the basic concept of teleporting would make for a unique kit. It would have high attack, like an actual enderman, along with speed 1 and 4-6 ender pearls.
Equipment:
(non-OP modes) stone sword [sharpness 3 or 5] and full leather armor dyed black, along with the speed and pearls.
(OP mode) iron sword [sharpness 5] and black leather armor with a dragon head and elytra, all enchanted with protection 3 or 4. Should only be given slightly more ender pearls than its non-OP counterpart, if any.
Viking / Berserker - Like the swordsman, but with an axe and less armor.
Equipment:
(non-OP) stone or iron axe and full chain armor with leather pants and boots
(OP mode) Diamond axe [maybe with sharpness 1] and full diamond without helmet.
Jumper / Kangaroo - Jumps higher. Not much else to say.
Equipment:
(non-OP) iron sword with just diamond leggings and boots with jump boost 2.
(OP mode) iron sword [sharpness 5] with diamond leggings and boots [protection 3 or 4, maybe feather falling 4 too]; jump boost 3.
