What is Hide and Seek?
Hide and Seek was a gamemode situated in the Arcade until early 2016, when the 1.9 update saw it go into "maintenance". Heh, some maintenance that turned out to be. Anyways, the game saw the hiders disguise themselves as a random block, where they would have to blend in with their environments. The seekers would then try to find those players, either through map knowledge or by hitting every single block they see (lmao), and kill them.

Eleven players would spawn into the map as the hiders, who would have twenty seconds to run off and find a place to hide. By standing still for five seconds, they would transform into an identical replica of the block that they were either assigned, or selected. Twenty seconds afterwards, a single seeker would spawn into the map, and would have to find and kill the hiders. Hitting a hider once would expose them, whereas each subsequent hit would deal damage to them. Once a hider is killed, they will respawn as a seeker after five seconds.

The game would end when any one of the following conditions were met:

-No hiders remained
-The timer surpassed five minutes

The game was removed due to the following reasons:
-Read the first sentence of the thread

No, it was not removed due to the plugin being outdated, because it was updated over a year ago.

Okay, so the game needs to be more original. Gotcha, here are my ideas:

What's new?

-'Volunteer' option
-Greater incentives to seek
-Block pet
-Abilities
-Can transform into mobs
-Can change your block once per game
-New maps
-New achievements

The 'Volunteer' option
In the old days of Hide and Seek, the role of the seeker was horribly underwhelming in terms of rewards. The dilemma this would create, is that the random player that was assigned the role would usually leave. I propose adding a 'Volunteer' sign to the spawn of Hide and Seek, so that players can choose to be the initial seeker if they so wish. If multiple people offer to be the initial seeker, then the role will be assigned randomly among those that volunteered. Likewise, if nobody volunteered, then the role will be assigned at random.

Greater incentives to seek
Of course, the issue with the initial seekers always leaving games was motivated by a lack of purpose. What reason did people have to remain in the game? They'd get a mere two points for killing a player, and would lose the game no matter what. They could waste up to five minutes of their time trying to find somebody for no reason but to stop somebody else from getting a victory reward, to no benefit of themselves.

The obvious counter-measure would be to offer better incentives to seek. Here is what I propose:

Increased reward for killing players
Two measly points for killing somebody? Mate, they're hiding! I don't want to slave away five minutes of my life for two points! Considering there are twelve people in the game, and with each subsequent kill there is another player that you're competing with for the reward, said reward should be at least five points.

Assuming you kill all eleven players, you will earn fifty-five points per game. That's quite a lot, sure, but you aren't going to kill all eleven players in a realistic scenario. You might get eight or so if you're really good, but skill should be rewarded with more points.

Experience reward at the end of a game
Usually, when the seekers win, the game is considered a tie; you won't get a win, nor a loss. However, you also won't receive anything. This needs to be changed, and this is the way to do it:

-Give the initial seeker +100 experience. Give all subsequent seekers +25 experience
-Give the initial seeker +25 points. Give all subsequent seekers +5 points
-Give the initial seeker a win. Give all subsequent seekers a tie
-Give the initial seeker a 1/16 chance of receiving a cubelet. Give all subsequent seekers a 0/1 chance of receiving a cubelet

Block pet
This applies to both hiders and seekers: offer a rare reward for winning, that will increase the game's replayability. The block pet will be enabled via the 'Vanity' menu, and will follow the player around in hubs and pre-game lobbies. It cannot be jumped on or interacted with in any way; it's purely cosmetic.

The conditions to unlock the pet are:
-1/500 chance upon winning as the initial seeker
-1/1,000 chance upon winning as a hider
-1/10,000 chance upon killing another player

What's important isn't how many players you have on a game, nor how long they play for; what's important is a combination of the two. Step one: make the game worth playing. Step two: give people a reason to keep playing it. I personally believe that a rare pet reward should be offered in every gamemode, and so will continue to propose them in my suggestion threads. It's a simple system to implement, yet could increase replayability massively if the pets are a hit with the playerbase.

There will be abilities available for both hiders and seekers, that will give you a greater chance at fulfilling your objective in certain situations.

I really liked Hide and seek, and I know lots of others who did as well.
Your new updated version or suggestion is really great.
The block pet sounds really interesting and everything else seems like a really good change and/or addition.
Another great suggestion as always! ;)

Thoughts on why we need more non-PvP content:

The following games see its players find loot and kill people with it in vanilla combat:
-Lucky Islands (Wands aren't vanilla, but aside from the TNT wand, they aren't being used in combat anyways and don't really change the gameplay much)
-Skywars
-Eggwars
-Survival Games
-Assassins
-Ultra Hardcore
-A few Minerware games, though I would personally consider those to be "different" due to the proximity of all players. They also don't drag on too long or overstay their welcome

These games are definitely fun, but once you've gotten bored of one of these games, you've basically gotten bored of them all. Sure, the conditions that lead up to each fight are different, but each fight is still the same. Because so many games on Cubecraft offer the exact same gameplay as their selling points (i.e. finding loot and killing people in vanilla combat), there really isn't much else to do once you've exhausted one of these games' content. That's why the Arcade was always so appealing, it gave you something else to do. Why do you think it kept so many players despite having not received an update in almost two years? :)

tl;dr - More arcade games pls? :) Hide and Seek would be a good place to start, since it involves very little PvP and gives you a lot of time to chill out and speak to people and whatnot

So you just gave up suggesting greek related maps? :( :D

Anyways, sounds great (as usual :p) You go into so much detail its becoming hard for me to think of stuff to add :/
Really like the volunteering system you came up with, it'll save some games from becoming boring.

The problem I always used to have is who won what. I believe it was something like; if you start out as hider you'll only win if you survive or if you die and seekers win. Meaning that the initial seeker has less chance of winning (considering that both parties have equal ammount of chances of winning (in an idealy balanced game)). Therefor I suggest that the initial seeker gets the biggest reward for winning the game, second and third seekers both get a little less and all the other, later joined seekersquad-members will get half of the rewards of the initial seeker. Sounds fair to me :)

It cannot be jumped on
oh ma gawd what if you could jump on players with a special type of hat :D that'd be so sick.

Would genuinely really want to see this being added. Would make a lot of people play Hide & Seek again. I'd certainly play it a lot if this was added. Really good suggestion!

Well here's a thing. We should also add a mode called "Mega Mode"
IT'S NOT A VOTING OPTION INB4 ANYONE SAYS THAT
This would have 60 players, with 6 teams of 10. The goal is to find the enemy players first before your opponents.

Opryland - Dive through the largest resort in the world
oprylandmap1-56a69ffb3df78cf7728f6cf5.jpg

The goal on this map is simple - ignoring the Convention Center since it's empty they will be divided into 6 sections -
- Cascades + Relache
- Garden
- Magnolia Courtyard
- Magnolia Exterior
- Delta Island
- Delta Exterior

psst this could also be added as an FFA map

too lazy to come up with more maps, be back later

^ At least the pic wasn't as hideous as the one from the ground eggwars.

English translation : nice pic reply to @Mikhail Gorbachev BTW .

Not a bad map , FFA also deserves maps as you said . A theme park would suit the theme of hide and seek pretty well. Wait , its a resort not a theme park . K . Elytra hide and seek would serve well.

Adding on , enough with selecting blocks to hide as . Its quite dumb. Instead, players can right click any block in the map and morph into it. This way you dont need a UI for 5 blocks since you can be any block without ever needing a UI
