I hate intros so let's get right into the thread.
In case you're wondering how it's done, it's actually quite simple. Join orange at the start of the game and have 3 people blitz mid. First guy there collects all diamonds towards pink and around 24 gold. Run back, get punch bow, block out cyan and the 2 islands next to it. This eliminates the need to guard the 2 diamond generators down there, which was why we always failed mid camping this map as that guy was a hassle to resupply.
Next, have one guy guard green directly. Don't let green enter mid.
Have the last 3 guard the 3 generators closer to pink. Once one gets a punch bow, block out pink and the 2 islands next to it. Have greens guard recede into mid. The other 2 will start spawn killing green. The green guard acts as a restock person for the blockers and spawn killers.
After this, mid camp like normal, this method can get 1200+ kills in one game.
OK so you no longer have an argument that certain maps can bypass this issue, it just isn't true. So clearly something needs to be done so we can finally start revamping eggwars.
So what can we do?
There's a lot of options as to how to fix the issue. Unfortunately, people keep over exaggerating negative effects of this. So, here's a list of possible items.
1. Kamikaze Cloak - Launches a person on a maneuverable 200 block horizontal path. Cancelled by shifting. Upon cancellation, a 20 second death timer will begin which kills the player when it expires. Mining fatigue 3 will be given throughout this, meaning tnt is the only method to get through blocks.
Cost: 24 Gold
2. Ender Chest Thrower - This item, upon being placed, will throw 25% of tokens in your inventory to a chest on your base. One use item.
Cost: 14 Gold
3. Illusioner - 1.12 added a new mob called the illusioner which creates 3 clones of itself and mimics the original. Why not add something similar to eggwars? Upon use of the illusioner item, 2 clones of the player will generate 2 blocks on either side of the original, and the player itself is randomly sent to one of the clones or is kept within its own body. The normal body acts as normal, and the clones take 1/2 damage and knockback. Damage immunity does not stack between entities.
Cost: 32 Gold
4. Update to 1.13 (Only fixes normal mode)
5. Map Modifications to maps that are very friendly to mid camping
6. Up punch bow price to 48 and power bow to 40 only for first 3 minutes of the game
7. Other ideas I'm forgetting
I don't want to hear the fact that this is rare. Eggwars desperately needs a revamp, and if the revamp heavily increases the frequency of this devastating strategy, people will instantly quit and a promising revamp will flunk. This is why you fix this first and then revamp
