Anybody remember Quakecraft?

'Quakecraft' will be a new gamemode that can be selected via a new stand in the Arcade lobby. It will have a handful of exclusive maps, and will also take maps such as 'Lego' and 'Oriental' from Paintball. No rank will be needed to select this gamemode, however gamemode variants can be voted for much like in Paintball.

What's Quakecraft?
Quakecraft is a game that was removed a short while ago, upsetting all twelve of the people that still played it. Just kidding, it actually had a decently sized player-base. Anyways, it worked very similarly to Paintball, in that you had a modded item that would fire a projectile at opponents. However, there were no teams (Free for All) and your projectile would kill players in one shot. Missing your shot though would mean almost guaranteed death, since you wouldn't be able to fire again for a couple of seconds.

Maps
A handful of new and old maps alike will be available upon release, such as:
-Futuristic (Retro)
-Castle (Retro)
-Lego (Paintball)
-Oriental (Paintball)
-Acropolis (New)
-Space station (New)

Gamemode variants
Much like in Paintball and Wing Rush, you will be able to vote for gamemode variants in Quakecraft. To do so, at least one player in the lobby will need to have Diamond+ rank.

Quake
The default gamemode.

Shotgun

This option will see players have wider bullet spread but a decreased range, just like the Shotgun Power-up from Paintball.

Extinction
This option will see the objective of the game change. Rather than requiring twenty kills to win, players will have only three lives. Once you die three times, you're out! This gamemode will see players rush a lot less, and become more reserved to avoid unnecessary deaths. Remember, the objective isn't to kill anymore; it's to not die.

Mechanics

Quake & Shotgun Mode

The game will end if any one of the following conditions are met:
-Only one player remains
-A player reaches twenty points

Upon firing your weapon, you will be unable to fire it again for two seconds or so. This delay will be multiplied in Shotgun Mode.

Much like in Paintball, there will be a benefit to landing headshots. Of course, offering a damage multiplier in a game where you always die in one hit would be silly, so instead, landing headshots will completely reset your cool-down, allowing you to shoot again immediately.

You will earn one point per kill. Upon death you will respawn, dropping down from one of four areas with a two-second invincibility period. This is to counteract both the spawn-camping and later invincibility abuse that were common problems in the previous installation of Quakecraft. Now, because players respawn in only one of four locations, players can simply choose to avoid these areas or camp a short distance away. No more hiding in a corner and melting people the very instant they spawn, nor shooting somebody three times only for them to turn around and ice you because they had an hour of invincibility.

Extinction Mode
The game will end if any one of the following conditions are met:
-Only one player remains

In Extinction Mode, players will each have three lives. They will lose a life for each death, and upon losing all of them, will be disqualified.

In either gamemode, there will be a ten-second grace period at the start of every game

I would love to have quakecraft back! It was one of my favourite games.
The different modes sound really interesting and I would definently try them out ;)
Good suggestion! (As always)

Although I have played a few games of Quakecraft, I really enjoyed the mechanic of that game, I hope it gets added back because a good amount of people still miss this game.

Hopefully, Staff will read and take this thread into consideration <3

Another nice feature would be a game length feature.
So there could be short, normal and long games. For Shotgun and Classic it would work like this.
  • Short game: reach 10 points.
  • Normal game: reach 20 points.
  • Long game: reach 40 points
But for Extinction it would be like this.
  • Short game: 1 live.
  • Normal game: 3 lives.
  • Long game: 5 lives.
Overall nice suggestion. +1

Isn't this taking off of Hypixel? Hypixel own Quakecraft meaning that bringing this onto the server will damage it more then help it.

Sorry to say but I think this is a bad idea as it will damage CubeCraft.

Erm... what?

Ah, that explains it.

Quakecraft was already our gamemode, it was just removed a couple of months ago under the Arcade update, though we were told that those old games might see a return in the future. With Quakecraft being one of more popular and unique of the old games, it makes sense to reinstate it first.

Anybody remember Quakecraft?
Pepperidge Farm remembers
-Lego (Paintball)
-Oriental (Paintball)
I don't think they have the best shapes for good game of quakecraft
half the actual game was knowing the maps and how to play
I liked that
-Futuristic (Retro)
what map was this? I remembered the castle but this was never a map (unless maybe they removed it before I could play it)
the maps were: Castle, Scarlet, Skybridge, Saphire, Kyrie, & Frozen (Not sure about the name of that last 1)

okay slightly iffy about the Shotgun mode but I'd have to try it out before I can fully make an opinion on it

Overall yes

Anything to get dat Greek mythology in here, eh?

On Topic: I've seen a lot of people wanting Quake back, myself included. It was a fun little time-waster and I think some new voting options could make the game more interesting. I have a few minor issues with your suggestion, mostly naming (extinction sounds a bit weird for a shooter game mode) but if that's my only real complaint, I think you've made yourself a pretty nice suggestion.
