This post might get removed for being irrelevant and such, but I just needed to express this. God I miss the old days. I remember when I was 10 and saw a video by "SSundee" about a game called "Eggwars" on "CubeCraft" in April of 2016. I thought it looked really cool so I logged on the server and decided to check it out. I spawned in the old Eggwars lobby with all the giant animals in the savanna, but I didn't have time to look at anything. I was ready to play.
My first game was a solo match on the map "Nightmare" where there were a bunch of houses and giant trees and one massive tree in the middle where all the diamonds were. I actually managed to last pretty long in the game, but eventually died by falling through a one block gap in a bridge between two islands (don't ask my how i remember some of these details okay?) back when building blocks were sandstone.
However, just from playing that one game, I was addicted. I played eggwars by myself for months and months until on the 23rd of August I recorded and edited by first youtube video, and uploaded it on the 24th. It was called "Steaming Punks and Cringy Content / Eggwars / #1" and i would provide a link but from what i can remember on this website youtube links take up the whole page with the thumbnail, so i'll just change my bio to the link seeing as I never use this website anymore. Also don't watch it. It's very bad. It's honestly really very bad.
I then uploaded like five fully-edited minecraft videos later that day, and until like the start of 2017 I would pretty much non-stop upload either cubecraft or mineplex videos (back when mineplex was actually a thing). Not to blow my own horn, but my editing honestly wasn't bad for a 10 year old, and my commentary definitely wasn't boring. My commentary was some of the most ear assaulting, epilepsy-inducing, squeaky garbage put on youtube, made mostly by the fact that I would just never shut up, so it was definitely worse than boring. I loved making videos, however, and honestly I wish i still had that passion, but now i have to do like big boy school stuff and it's just gonna get worse. I was completely oblivious to how bad my content was, and I was so puzzled as to how, which my amazing editing and commentary (/s) and frequent uploads I only amassed like 15 subs, but tbh I didn't really care.
One day I was playing on another server called Destructioncraft (which died like a year ago now) on Skyblock and I met a guy called JHHulkSmash. We both loved CubeCraft and started playing Eggwars together, he being like a god at 1.8 and 1.9 pvp. In November he asked me to get this thing called "Discord" back before Discord was especially well-known. He was like 13 or 14 and I was like 10 with a really weirdly posh accent despite no one else around me being that posh-sounding. And we played together for ages. I remember being so worried that my parents would find me talking to people I didn't know irl. i remember it was my 11th birthday and I was still at primary school (omg that was a while ago) and almost passing out from stress that my parents might randomly open up discord and finding that i had friended people i didn't know, because they were trying to get Microsoft Office as a birthday present (for real). Looking back, I realise they probably wouldn't have given a crap, but i was like 10 (actually 11) leave me alone.
After getting discord i then met up with two friends, ethan and rueben, both of which go to my secondary school now. They also got Discord and started playing Minecraft with me and it was the greatest time in my life. People my age who i was already friends with irl playing Minecraft with me without just typing stuff into the chat to talk. It was the first, and so far only time anything like that has happened. This went on for about a year and a half until the end of year 7.
When secondary school started Rueben had been placed in the X half of the year and me in the Y half, meaning none of our classes were together, and so the only time we talked was online, AND ON THE BUS BABY, CAUSE HE MOVED INTO MY VILLAGE OVER THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS! So for the first few months we always sat next to each other on the bus, talking and stuff. However because he was in none of my classes and the amount of people in our year basically increased tenfold, he inevitably started to make new friends. We started talking to each other less and less, until eventually when the final day of year 7 ended i went to his house once in the summer holidays and played a game called "robocraft" with him once in october of 2018 (now in year 8), and that was the last time I've spoken to him since.
Due to lack of people actually interested in playing minecraft with me in secondary school, (ethan i was never really close with irl in the first place) my interest in cubecraft, and therefore minecraft multiplayer, started to die down. I made a singleplayer world mid year 8, which was the first time i actually killed the enderdragon from survival all the way through in my 5 years of having the game. However in about april of this year, by computer started to die down, and so minecraft, including windows 10 edition, no longer boot up. After this, i'm going to buy a new computer, but i know next to nothing about computers and so i don't want to make a purchase that is either too expensive, nor one that isn't worth it. But the second I get a new computer you can bet im copying the file of that singleplayer world and repetitively strip mining the second everything works. yeah i could get pocket edition... actually screw bedrock.
I just came to the cubecraft forum for the first time in like a year, and saw "the nostalgia update" with a bunch of eggwars and skywars maps that i remember playing in late 2016-early 2017, and i just got the most incredible of flashbacks to being 10 and arguing with my friends in Discord as to whether we should rush the island next to us or go the middle and get diamonds before everyone else does. I don't know where i'm going to go and where my long relationship with minecraft is going to end up in the following years, and i know i'm still only 13 while writing this, but i'm still nostalgic as hell rn and i want to write something before i forget that era entirely. Also did I mention I got diamond rank at some point? Damn those were the days...
