Currently for the report site, the maximum file size for a screenshot is 5MB. In all of my reports with a screenshot, I have had to retake them with a different background (the sky instead of the players in the lobby) because the file was too big. The cap should be bumped to 10-15 MB so we don't have to worry about that as much.

Well, I have never experienced this since I use the report site. So I don't really know how you make your files bigger than 5 MB

What's wrong with my sentence? I just say that I have never experienced that since I use the report site. I am wondering how you make your screenshot files bigger than 5MB.

How do I check that?
If you play full screen it'll be the same as your moniter, for example 1920x1080.
When you press F3 ingame, on the right hand side it shows your resolution (mine's 2560*1057).

The only reason this should be an issue is if for example you're gaming in 4K (4096x2160) or something.

954x480 for small screen 1600x900 for fullscreen. It has happened for both

I don't think I've ever experienced this problem. I take the screenshot, and print it on a special file service I have. I can link those files, only as an image, to the report website. This file system also allows me to make screenshots bigger and smaller, allowing me to adjust it so all four corners of my screen can be seen, so the report is valid. You may be experiencing some screenshot difficulty thanks to the fact on the pov, or maybe the direction you are facing. It's either that, or I don't know.

I am very confused as to why this is happening for people, especially if they have reasonably small screenshot resolutions, unless one of these things are happening:
  • You are using for example a shaders mod that may change the way Minecraft saves images, for example at a higher bit-depth (vanilla is 24-bit I believe)
  • You are using screen image capture software other than the client (like the Windows 10 Game Bar or Geforce Experience) that may save the images in a different format to the vanilla .png Minecraft uses, i.e. they are not compressed as effectively
  • There's a problem with the site that won't accept certain peoples' screenshots even if they are below 5MB, though I believe @AnonymousVoter implied his were in fact above 5MB in his local storage
Basically I think the problem is not with the site's limit (as the developers would know how much storage even a large screenshot would take up), but with the few people who are affected by the problem - simply because the file size would have to be over double what the normal values are (in my experience), for what is in AnonymousVoter's case under half the pixel count (again, in comparison to me [only 2MB for 2560x1080]).

If it does transpire that this is a common problem, then I agree it's very important to change the limit on the site, so if anyone can tag a suitable developer or admin that would be great.

I have never had this problem on the reports site, I hope it will get fixed for you soon though! :D

Agreed. I get this all the time. Would like to see it be increased.
Infrequenty encounter this issue.

For everyone getting this issue it is because of the compression and file type that your screen cap software uses. I would recommend to use the snipping tool for Windows 7 and above. I think you are able to get this for mac too, It is a great piece of software. And save using jpg tag and your files will be less than 500kb I assure you. As I take a screenshot as an example I will post one here using this tool. Anyway +1 for me as a lot of people seem to be getting this. So I would agree. Goodluck and have a great day :) Here is my screenshot of just 370kb

Thanks for the follow!
Lately I’ve been much less busy irl, so as long as I don’t suddenly accumulate a massive load of homework, I plan on resuming the suggestions I used to make/had in planning hopefully sometime in the next week or so. However, they probably won’t be as often as I used to (for example, I probably won’t release one every day or 2, but one every 3-5 days). See you soon!
