I prefer Java since it is way more classic and it is way more technical. For instance in Java you need to learn the PvP, because it is 1.9. Anyone that is a new Minecraft player will be instantly able to do 1.8 PvP, because it doesn't take much practice nor does it take technique. Building in Bedrock is also way more easy compared to Java.

I feel like starting a war today. Say which you think is better - Java or Bedorck, and give reasons why. I won't add a poll so let's see what happens :>
In my opinion, java edition is much better. I think this because on Java Edition you can do things like Hardcore Mode, make servers with plugins and mods on websites, put anything in your off hand, use a keyboard and mouse to control the game and you can get shaders, texture packs, maps and clients all for free. I have Bedrock and Java Edition and I prefer Java by far. Also, lots of people hate the Java edition pop with you having to load your sword until you can hit again to deal more damage. I actually prefer the Java pop because it makes the pvp more interesting especially with the axe mechanics as well. Java edition is comparable on PCs, Macs and Linux computers. Unless you don't have a good enough PC to run Minecraft, Java is my preferred Edition in Minecraft.

So I understand and respect that Java has way more options than Bedrock, better mechanics, and overall just is better than Bedrock

But Bedrock will always be my favorite :) I played MCPE on a Kindle for 5 years. When I got a laptop a year ago I downloaded both editions, but I'm always gonna play Bedrock more. I grew up playing on Bedrock, all my friends play it, and I love the community too much to ever switch completely to Java.

I mainly use java, if I'm playing bedrock it's almost certainly because I'm playing with a friend on another platform. If I had to choose one, I'd probably stick with java, it's what I know and bedrock doesn't offer enough for me to switch. As far as a breakdown of why:

For Java:
  • Redstone is more consistent on java.
  • Mods/resource packs etc. are free. (I like the concept of the marketplace but I don't think it should be the only way to get user generated content)
  • More personally, all my worlds are on java and I don't really want to start over
  • Also, commands, I have a working knowledge of commands on java and I've heard they're more limited on bedrock
    :(
For Bedrock:
  • Cross-play is a big one, it makes playing with your friends so much easier.
  • Again, personally, I like the simpler combat system better. Though I'm interested in seeing where the new combat system goes.
