Background Information:
Since January 2021, OG CubeCrafters like myself were complaining about the knockback because it didn’t suit the server at all; it was too similar to the one their competitor has, and we played the server for the past 3 years due to it being almost close to vanilla PvP, with a CubeCraft feel to it.
The idea behind the suggestion:
During late 2020/early 2021, there were two beta tests about the new knockback and the majority of the people prefered the second test but CubeCraft for some reason chose the first to be the current knockback. I find it flawed and something needs to be done about it.
In what way should it be changed?
Originally, I wanted vertical knockback to be reduced and while the majority agreed to the idea, the others disagreed with it. However, I have another solution that will benefit both sides of the PvP community.
Introducing: Knockback Modifier voting type!
Exclusive to Bedrock, this new voting type will allow players with game specific ranks to vote for which knockback modifier they would like to play with, which will alter the knockback all players take in the match.
There will be two knockback modifiers to choose from:
- Vertical Priority (more vertical knockback, less horizontal knockback) [Default Option]
- Horizontal Priority (more horizontal knockback, less vertical knockback)
Vertical Priority:
Vertical Priority is the current knockback, with vertical knockback lifting people in the air when they get comboed. This modifier is the default modifier since everyone is used to it.
Horizontal Priority:
Horizontal Priority is the classic knockback (not the old knockback from 2018-20). People can vote for it to switch the game up or if they prefer old school (vanilla) combat. This modifier will reduce the vertical knockback and increase horizontal knockback slightly to match Knockback Test V2 (there will be a video near the bottom of the suggestion if you can’t remember it or have not seen it before).

Advantages of the suggestion:
- Both sides of the CubeCraft PvP community will be able to play with the modifier they prefer, the same way as in choosing a votable game mode like Overpowered items.
- Vertical priority will be the default knockback modifier for all games, unless a player with a rank voted for the Horizontal priority modifier.
- Casual players wouldn’t mind the change.
- It might bring back old players of CubeCraft. It might also bring old school PvPers to the server, which will increase the player count.
- Will increase the income of the server since more players will be buying the game ranks to vote for the modifier of their choice.
- More content opportunities for YouTubers.
- Would make CubeCraft the first featured server on Bedrock to offer two different knockback systems.
- Might cause more people to start grinding.
Concerns:
#1 – What about Battle Arena? How will that work?
For duels, there will either be a random knockback modifier for all players when queuing or vertical priority knockback modifier will be chosen by default, and players with the Battle Arena rank can select the knockback modifier they want. As for FFA, there will be no change to it as the current knockback is perfect for that game mode.
#2 – What about the speedrun records?
There should be separate speed run records; one for vertical knockback priority modifier (default) and there will be one for the horizontal knockback priority modifier (new speedrun record opportunities for speed runners out there!). Leaderboards in game will not be affected by this change.
#3 – I don’t enjoy the knockback modifier!
The goal of this suggestion post is not to alter the current knockback, it’s to add a second votable knockback modifier for those who prefer vanilla PvP. The current knockback will stay default, without any changes made to it (it will be called vertical priority modifier). If you are in a game where both knockback modifiers are tied for votes or the opposite modifier has more votes than yours, you can look for a new lobby and hope that no one votes for the opposite modifier, the same as leaving the lobby if someone votes Hardcore on EggWars for example. Also, the horizontal priority knockback modifier can be altered due to community feedback.
#4 – What games will be affected by this suggestion?
- SkyWars
- EggWars
- Survival Games
- Lucky Islands
- BlockWars*
- Duels
- MinerWare (Only Microgames with PvP enabled)
- All Game Duels (Including BlockWars CTF and Bridges)
#5 – Is this suggestion bringing back old knockback system from 2018-20?
The goal of this suggestion is not bringing back the old knockback, it’s to allow players with game ranks to vote for the knockback modifier they choose to play with, which affects the knockback dealt by all players in the game. The Horizontal Priority modifier changes the values of the current knockback system. You could say it will be better than the old knockback system since you will be able to do actual knockback to players.
Knockback Test V2 Clips:
The video was originally a livestream on January 15, 2021 by H4T MC on YouTube. Shoutout to him for doing that. Knockback Test V2 was using the old entity system which is why the knockback shown in the video below in some parts is not smooth. When the knockback modifiers voting options get added, it’ll be on the current entity system, so horizontal priority knockback modifier will be smoother than what’s shown in the video.
This video shows examples of what horizontal priority knockback may look like.
Summary:
I would like to see the knockback modifier voting option added to the majority of the PvP games on Bedrock. It will benefit both the old school PvPers who grew up with vanilla PvP and the modern PvPers who like to air combo people. It will also cause more players to play on CubeCraft and will make them more money, and it will be the first partnered server on Bedrock to offer two different knockback modifiers.
Do you agree with the suggestion? If not, how would you make the idea better?
