Everyone agrees that you should get banned for not following the rules. When you follow the rules, basically your only reward is not getting banned. (Or becoming staff, which only happens to a few people) However, when you're between following and not following the rules. (like me) you get higher rewards. More likes, more followers etc. Ofcourse one can exactly follow the rules. But why would you do that? Not to mention that many people call you a helper wannabe. That's why I'm suggesting to reward people who exactly follow the rules a bit more. Not that i'll be following the rules then. But just to make it more even. I don't really have any ideas as rewards. But maybe you could come up with them!

How would we even go about with this idea? Do we just give all of the hundreds of thousands of daily unique players a reward if they follow the rules? It would be nice to reward people who do follow the rules, just the execution of it would be an annoyance.

With following the rules, you earn many things that should benefit you more than a tangible in game reward.

If you’re following and enforcing the rules on our server, then let them. Clearly they see you as a viable candidate anyways. ;)

Great idea!!! (No just kidding)

But I mean, being on the border in between following and not following the rules gives you more excitement and fun. That makes no sense whatsoever. I wasn't talking about in game rewards. But more like being more rewarded by the community. The people who are liked the most nowadays are mostly not the people who totally follow the rules. Ofcourse the people who are here do listen to most of the rules. But I mean, when you're abusing one rule, you get a lot of fame. That's what irritates me. (I, myself also irritates me)

Being on that border is a fine line. Once you pass that fine line, you get punished again and again until you get banned. :P

I can see where you’re coming from that some people somewhat abuse loopholes in the rules. If you can find any, please inform me. Otherwise, rules can be a little more vigilant/detailed to avoid marginal loopholes.

I have a very good idea for an update to the follower system on the forum.

As we all know, the system is rather useless at the moment. Nobody ever uses the news feed and following someone has very little effect.
Now imagine this: If someone you follow gets banned, you get a second hand ban for the same time. People that follow you will not get banned (possibly extend this chain to 2 or 3 degrees later). That way people will only want to follow the most trustworthy players that won't ever break the rules.

Now being followed and also following players will have to positively effect you, so suggest your daily message quota (thread and profile posts) will be capped to sum of the number of people following you and people you follow. Linking your Minecraft account needs to be mandatory and an in-game ban has to get you banned from the forum as well to incentivise following the rules on the server too.

This introduces a trust based reward, if you're always on the line of getting banned people will unfollow you and you can't post as much.

I do want to point out

Think about how many people who would have been banned for things like Marieke being banned
Or a further back instance Deeds67

Also you are only encouraging people not to follow anyone
Because both examples above showed examples where nobody would have been able to predict the person would be banned and then you are just banning 100s of accounts for what following?
