I've been working on some guides and suggestions for some of my favorite games on the server and this is one for Minerware that I managed to finish. I've made some visual representations for some that may be hard to grasp, that you may not understand fully to help out. Feedback is welcome as usual, that's what forums are for. I'm looking for flaws in my ideas.
Minigame 1:
Punch-A-Pal
Objective:
The screen reads "Punch <Player>!" now the objective of everybody in order to win is to punch the randomly selected player, if they do, they get a point. However the player selected gets a point regardless, their main goal is to run away from people or punch them away so that as little people as possible get points. Everyone can punch each other for this reason, there could also be a randomly generated structure so it acts as a game of hide and seek too, a really short one though, maybe 10 seconds or so.
Minigame 2:
Lumber!
Objective:
Many trees are spawned on the platform, all players must try to gather as much wood as possible. Players can hit each other and place blocks to make the minigame harder. Dedicated players can nerd pole to reach higher areas where they are the only person accessing that wood so they can get more. This is risky and can cost them the win.
Minigame 3:
Escape!
Objective:
A randomly generated maze (builders could create up to 20 mazes and they are randomly chosen and placed) is placed onto the platform and everyone has 30 seconds to fine their way through to the other end. The red is the start and the green is the finish.
Minigame 4:
Count!
Objective:
A fenced off area is generated on the center of the platform and a random number of mobs are placed in it, you can mix it up with different mobs to make it harder and the player must correctly enter the number of mobs in chat. They get 3 attempts and 10 seconds before they lose.
Minigame 5:
Take Order!
Objective:
A villager appears and the chat reads a random variety of food, you must trade the correct food from your inventory with him.
Minigame 6:
Shoot <wool_colour>!
Objective:
A wall of completely random wool colours is generated, the colour that is randomly shown to each player at the start (also shown in chat in case someone missed it) is somewhere on the wall. The player must use their bow and shoot the correct colour, they only get one shot, if they miss or shoot the wrong colour. They lose. This relies on bow accuracy and reflexes. You get 8 seconds.
Minigame 7:
'Kill Them All!' & 'Hide From The Killer!'
Objective:
In a full 12 player game, 6 people are sent to the killer side and 6 to the hider side. A house is randomly generated the hiders must, well- hide. The killers must search the house and kill all the players in order to win. Their sword is a one-hit kill, killers are also automatically teleported to the outside of the structure and hiders start inside, this gives them a somewhat 'grace period' to find their hiding before killers reach them. This minigame should last about 25 seconds. This minigame is kept short by having a 25-second timer, small structures and easy identification to who is who such as killers wearing black leather and hiders wearing white.
Minigame 8:
Replicate!
Objective:
A build is shown in the center, all players must replicate the build to perfection and are given 15 seconds to do it, for this reason builds must be simple and symmetrical. This minigame would be hard to do on a full game because there isn't space. Players could be taken to an off platform area to build in private perhaps.
Minigame 9:
Fix The Redstone!
Objective:
A broken redstone circuit is shown, the player must fix the redstone so that the contraption works correctly.
Minigame 10:
Death Run!
Objective:
Parkour across the lava pool to reach the other side before the timer runs out.
Minigame 11:
Name Your Wolf, <name>!
Objective:
You are given an anvil and a nametag, only one though. You must name the nametag and right click the wolf to give him his name.
Minigame 12:
Play <music_disc>!
Objective:
Search through a chest to find the specific music disc required and play it in the jukebox.
Boss Minigame 1:
Sail!
Objective:
Essentially just the hoop race but with boats and water, you must race your opponents on a downhill race to the finish line. There are many passing obstacles that could cause you to crash such as logs and such.
Boss Minigame 2:
Keep To The Rhythm!
Objective:
This is just Blockband essentially, but a short 20-second soundtrack, because BlockBand uses actual songs via a website this could be done using noteblocks because it's only a short 20-second jingle.
Suggestion 1:
Add random structures to 'Knock Them Off!' different platform shapes and maps to mix it up. Make it much like Fish Slap, makes the game more exciting.
Suggestion 2:
Add more complicated math problems to 'Solve Equation'
Suggestion 3:
Vanish players when answering questions, this way people don't just choose an answer based on what side everyone else is on.
Suggestion 4:
Make 'Mini-Spleef' more mini, it takes way too long to finish. Make it only have one layer just like classic spleef.
Suggestion 5:
Add shotgun and line shots from Arcade to 'Shoot TNT & Don't Fall'
Suggestion 6:
Change 'King of the Hill' so that the player who spent the most time on the hill wins and not the player that was last on it when the minigame finished, this makes way more sense and is fair because this is how King of the Hill actually works.
Suggestion 7:
Change 'Wait for It' so that it also has a chance to show 'Stay Put!' or something along those lines so that you actually have to wait for it...
Suggestion 8:
Minerware voting options such as 'Fast Mode' or 'Harder Difficulty'
