Hello, CubeCrafters!

I have seen some colorblind people in the community playing Minerware, even 2-3 days ago!

The issue:

There are some specific microgames that use color identification, but color blinds some can’t see colors, some can have flipped color identification, for example: if they see red, they will simply go on brown, (maybe others would see red as something other than brown, but you got my idea)…

So, there are some microgames that have this problem which are:

1. Dress Like the Mannequin.
2. Choose the x flower (Depends on the shape, like the Orchid is a little bit large so it is identified, but like the all kinds of tulips are the same..)
(There is also: Pick a Unique Color, but it is just an issue for people who can’t see colors at all, since the people who see different colors, would just need to know that they don’t want someone to pick the same color. So, I don’t think that there might be a person out there with that kind of colorblind type playing Minerware, but I’ll mention it!)
(Btw I wrote those microgames for the issue I am talking about, other than that, I love them!)

Note:
This is not a suggestion, since it is hard to solve it, and that I think, if I am not wrong, that the colorblind community in CubeCraft is small, or that they have already solved their
OWN colorblind type problem. (But I still see people say that they are colorblind and that they cannot solve it with a 100% solution)
As well as that I am not only giving you the issue but I am also questioning how to solve it!

(By the way I am not Colorblind lol)

Give me feedback on how you think about this issue.

Cya!

How can it be solved:

I don’t know! xD
(maybe a resource pack fixing the issue “For example”: We see red, and they see brown, but with the resource pack, it will show them already brown so it will be flipped as red, BUT this is a really hard idea and not that efficient)
And that is it! I hope that someone gets some kind of way to fix this issue for these poor people who can’t see colors very well :(

This is not really a suggestion, since it is hard to solve it, and that I think, if I am not wrong, that the colorblind community in CubeCraft is small, or that they have already searched for a resource pack to solve their OWN colorblind type. A solution could be a toggle button or setting for colour blind, that would change all colour specific games to colour blind friendly

1. Stand on the x Color.
For this microgame you also have the block you're supposed to stay on in your inventory to see if it matches with the colour of the blocks on the floor. You can also hit people of their block and take that place since it's most likely the correct block to stay on.
1. A solution could be a toggle button or setting for color blind, that would change all color-specific games to colorblind-friendly,[I(Credits to
@-pokemondjs7- for this solution, literally in the first comment xD)[/I]
The button will make Minerware unneeded messy. It's better to make all games colour blind friendly then giving the players the option with a button. If the game would be colour friendly how would you change it? This doesn't give a solution to your suggestion.
2. Maybe a resource pack fixing the issue “For example”: We see red, and they see brown, but with the resource pack, it will show them already brown so it will be flipped as red, BUT this is a really hard idea and not that efficient)
A resource pack could help but there are many different types of colour blindnes so you would need many packs in order to help everyone. Adding the resource packs will be annoying for the other 95%+ people who play the game. They have to click no on the texture pack every time. It's easier to download a texture pack yourself.

Being colour blind isn't just in Minerware a problem but also in Eggwars and Among Slimes. I don't think it's worth the effort for a this small amount of people since it's not an easy problem to fix.

As you said, you can maybe download a texture pack that fits you, or there may be a mod out there that helps colorblind people. Either way i think its great this gets some attention! I never thought of that! :)

Oh yeah! Really forgot that thing 😓

Yeah! Now I see how big the colorblind issue is in a lot of games ;(
And yea it is really hard to find a solution for it, and that is why I posted this thread to find a solution...

Anyways thanks for your feedback, made me know even more about the problem and that my decisions are now more directed ;)

It depends on your mentality you play the games. If you're playing Eggwars you can treat every single team as a different opponent or all the different teams as one opponent. So when there is someone running towards you it's most likely someone who wants to kill you. There are no colour's needed, it's only a little harder in communication but if you communicate well with you team it's definitely possible to overcome the colour blind barrier. For Minerware it's only 2 out of maybe 30 possible microgames which are hard to complete. With a little luck they give you the colour you can see, so it's not even a guarantied loss. Among slimes would be the hardest to overcome your colour blindness. But still if cyan and blue are for you the same. You can pick one of those colors yourself, so when you see cyan or blue vent you know which one of those the impostor is. Because you are the other colour and you know your own role.

So I don't think it's a that big of a problem being colour blind. The games are still playable some harder then others. You can't change the way you see colors but you can change the way you handle yourself around the colors. It's a challenge for sure. But who doesn't love a challenge.

Really Nice! I Agree... As I said, this thread was made to see people's opinions and how would they give feedback and it is not a suggestion.
2nd, Eggwars as you said, is winnable as well as minerware, and I think the boss game is made to clutch up a game that can help a colorblind person. So now I can see that it can be solved by ourselves, thanks!
Third, I am not a colorblind person xD since you were using you..

Thanks, I agree with all! <3

that's actually a really cool idea! i feel like people who are colorblind could also see if there's a texture pack meant for the colorblind. Then it a would be a constant solution.

I'm moderately colour blind, and I want to give you an idea of my own experience on the minigames after playing them for hundreds and hundreds of times :D
  • Stand on Colour: Mostly without problem, but I can sometimes get it wrong if I'm not careful.
  • Dress Like the Mannequin: Extremely hard to play. I will feel lucky if I were to get it right, and in most case, I don't, and I don't even know why.
  • Pick Flower: Tulips are fine, those four colour are very distinguishable. Generally I don't think there are any problems in this minigame.
  • Answer Question: The questions with two choices in the normal mode is perfectly fine. However, the questions in the hard mode with four choices are nightmare. You just don't have that many brain cells to think about the colour. Yes, there are tags above the ground to indicate which answer it is, but it is very small. Overall I think colour blind players would have at least 400 ms of reaction time more than regular player in this minigame in hard mode.
  • Snow Fight: The same as Answer Question that we would only have trouble in hard mode, although in this minigame every millisecond counts. I would say it did become harder for colour blind players, but generally not that much a big deal.
My opinion is that you should only provide solution for colour blind players if colour is not a part of the game. It is similar to the relations between people with disabilities and sports. You should provide wheelchair accessibility in stadium so that people with disabilities can watch sports games as they pleased, but on the other side, you don't need to lower the difficulty of the sports to allow people with disabilities to join the same game with everybody else.

So in this case, I would say Answer Question and Snow Fight do have room for improvement, for example using some more distinguishable colour in hard mode rather than orange against green. But for Dress Like the Mannequin and Stand on Colour, I would say it's fine.

^ Well this is only my own opinion in the end. I don't know how other colour blind people think as well.

Nice answer to your solution! I mean, since you are a colorblind person, then you would be the perfect person to tell us, and you did!
Thanks a lot, I agree.. (I feel bad for you :( <3)

Thank you very much.

I'm actually very new to game design so I don't exactly know how a designer should think about the problem. I once made another suggestion about colour blind issue here https://www.cubecraft.net/threads/296042/ but I just feel like there are so many things to consider about and it is really hard to get a balance between them.
In fact, even I myself don't have an idea on it either. On one hand, I love colourful things; I like painting and photographing, but on the other hand, I do feel it difficult to understand colour sometimes and there are cases I would rather avoid colour at all.
Nontheless, no need to feel bad for me :)
