Hello, and welcome

I really thought I'd share this, because some might think this is funny or interesting (or just want to read a story)

Yesterday, it was friday.
My dad told me he'd go to friends from 7PM till 10PM/11PM, meaning I was home alone and it was a Cubecraft-night for me
It was twenty minutes to nine, and I suddenly heard the front door opening (my father doesn't really lock it because we live in an appartment).
I was in a Discord call at that moment, so I wasn't sure if I heard that correctly
And all of a sudden I hear footsteps and see a shadow in my corridor

I literally stand up, being scared to make any noise, leave the voice call and I hid behind my door
I heard his footsteps again, I started crying honestly and I covered my mouth with my hand so I wouldn't make too much noise

(What was going through my mind then: this guy can now come in and do whatever he wants)
I was about to call the police, but I didn't want to look like a fool so I literally had no idea what to do
I looked at my window, problem is I'm on the second floor
I think of this, he's currently in the living room, and I can get to the front door way faster, I was ready to open the door

Then, I had a better idea: messaging my father, as you can see down below
OZIf3lm.jpg
Translated:
"there is someone in the house" -
"pls" -
"DAD" -

- "It's me "

And that's how it all ended, but believe me if I say that I've never been so scared
My legs were trembling, I was starting to cry, and my battery was low too ^ so if I had made a call, regardless of with who, it could only last for one to two minutes

I'm putting the Discord conversations down below, they could be funny for you to read xd
This was in FluffyRoses' her Discord: Panda party
QTodjYz.png

This was in my own Discord: ZoonTijd's Discord Server
tvmMgFd.png

And I was about to message staff-help as I believe I could get a response straight away, but honestly every staff member would've thought it was a prank

Thanks for reading, and no this is not a prank lol

Geeez, good thinking. If I were in your situation I'd have definitely gotten myself hurt.

A small disclaimer: Slight graphic content down below.

I guess this is the first experience for you, well for me my "Near death experience" would be when I got my left ankle stuck in my bike's wheel. The spokes tore apart my skin and pierced through. Blood started gushing and I started to lose consciousness. Good thing that my brother was behind me on his bike. To be honest, I was quite young (8 when this happened). And my brother too being not quite old, we needed help quick. I don't care if you believe in religious stuff or not, this was literally a miracle.

1. This happened on my home's strip. Good thing it didn't happen on the main street.
2. A man riding a motorcycle offered to help us. He took me to my home and helped get my leg out of the spokes. (He could've even kidnapped me, my bro and I were helpless lmao)
3. We phoned up my mother using my grandma's phone. She told us some medical stuff like first aid (She works at that hospital)
4. We got an autorickshaw immediately, as soon as we exited my home (After a bit of first aid. I still wasn't able to walk.)
5. They had to inject a "Numbness" type of medicine on my wound, that was the most painful experience in my life so far.
6. After that, it was really painless and I slept through the operation.

Welp, that was my experience.

Fear is just an illusion.
Joke, you are lucky that it was your dad. I once had the same thing, I heard voices in my house. But I didn't recognize any voice of it, so I was scared asf.
Since my parents left town for awhile - couple hours - so I was sure they weren't coming back within the 2 - 3 hours. So I was home alone.
I didn't move anything, I was just thinking about "What the heck do I need to do now" and I just took something so I could defend myself.
I went down stairs, really slowly so I couldn't make any noise. Then I heard someone saying something to the other person I guess.
I went to the back yard and poef, no one was there. I searched every single place and checked every single thing, nothing was gone. No one was in the house/garden.
I'm still mindblown about it, but yeah.

These kind of situations are absolutely horrifying. What you did is very good, don't shout, or make a noice, because it could also be someone else then your father. You should lock yourself inside a room, (toilet or bathroom) or hide in a closet or under a bed.
Then (you should) call 911/112 (omdat je Nederlands/Belgisch bent, te zien aan je foto)
And then contact your parents.

Only call 911/112 if you really don't know who it could be. The reason why you should call ems first is so they can respond while you inform your dad. They also keep you on the phone until police arrives, to help you calm (which not always succeeds)

If you are sure police arrived (blue/red lights flashing thru the window, because they mostly respond code3 / prio 1 to these kind of Calls, wait for the sign of a police officer being in the house (most likely they will shout things like POLICE!) Before you show up. They will give you more instructions.

And if it was someone you knew, you don't have to worry, you didn't abuse any of the serivces. You only made a fals alarm, which is not good, but you can better make a fals alarm then no alarm and getting killed or something.

Never go explore yourself.

This is what I would do in that kind of situation.

This basically.
If an unknown is in your house when they're not supposed to be there, call for help...fool or no fool :p . And hey, depending on how old you are, looking like a fool wouldn't be all that bad. Kids get scared, all the right to be. If anything it'd just have been something to laugh about in a few years if you had called the police. Though this is why it's always good to have some form of defence mechanism at the ready. Maybe pepper spray you'd keep in a drawer in your room. Maybe use this as an excuse to get your dad to get you a dog ;)

Then you will be punishable by law. You are not allowed to use any weapons as self-protection as long as the opponent doesn't use them too. Next to that, is pepperspray illegal to have in your property.

Not In my country. You are right. I forgot to say that it might be allowed in your country because of (local) laws.

Thanks for reminding me and I appologia for not adding that.

It's fine bud ^^. I assumed his local laws are the same as mine too so hey we're all guilty.
They probably aren't. Since he speaks Belgium/dutch to his father (chat pic) he probably lives in one of those countries too.
Both of them don't allow pepperspray for civilians.

I'd grab my knife which I hide in my room at a spot I can easily grab it. Then I'd stab the guy while finding out it's my dad...

Anyways nice story.

Pretty interesting to see you're sharing this, reading this really entertains me tbh, to read other's stories xd

Oof that's some great advise, I also talked about my father what I should do if something like that would really happen
