Discord Suggestion Compilation:
Hey folk, recently I was passively thinking about some ideas for the discord and thought it was worth another suggestion thread because why not.
1 – Custom discord bots
Oh come on, we know that there is already a bot that can run. Shouldn’t take too much effort to finish off coding it to add in some basic features related to CubeCraft specifically like messages reminding people to use the reports site to report and commands giving useful links etc. I could code it myself if necessary. It’s something that’s so basic to all discord servers that it’s kinda ridiculous that Cube doesn’t have one. Even official Discord servers use them.
2 – Inviting pre-built discord bots
This has been suggested quite a lot of times before. A bot like Mee6 would be great for levels and a bot like Rhythm would spice up voice channels. Access to Rhythm could even be assigned via specific message count as well to ensure lack of abuse and adding bots will encourage additional activity and engagement between the community.
3 – More strict enforcement of trolls and other obvious rule breakers
Something that gets on my nerves more than a lot of stuff is the time it takes for punishments to be dealt with even when a staff member is actually there. No, I’m not complaining about staff being inactive and having lives – that I can understand. It’s when it takes upwards of 10 minutes for someone to get banned despite them being an obvious troll. There have been so many times where staff have been active in chat and given light punishments to people who are doing really bad things and knowingly breaking the rules. From what I’ve heard, this is mostly an issue due to the procedures that mods are forced to follow. So a message to management – let staff just ban people instantly if they’re a troll – and to mods – if someone is obviously just trolling, insta ban them. It’s the same on every single other discord server I’m on and it works perfectly.
4 – Better enforcement of rules for popular members and designers
This is something that might need to be in staff feedback and if so I’ll move it there, but I’ve noticed how more well known and well liked members often receive less harsh punishments or none at all for some rules on the server, most commonly swearing. I’ve seen countless staff members and popular people break rules and not receiving the same punishment as a normal member, if they do receive a punishment at all. I’ve even witnessed management breaking rules before. They may do a lot for us as a community, but they should still be held to the same standards as every other member.
5 – Gamemode related channels
So we have #skyblock, #bedrock and #java, why not add channels for all the other gamemodes? It’s not like Cube is going to hit the 500 channel limit anytime soon (it’s currently at less than 20). Would be a nice addition and let people share things about their favourite games. Channels for things like building, skins and other creative and Minecraft related content would also be really nice. They might be inactive, but it’s not like them being inactive is going to hurt anyone.
6 – Additional community events
While yes, there is the community games which is usually on every 2 weeks, I feel like there should be more events to promote more community engagement. I know that there are plenty of people who would be willing to run community events and it would definitely bring together the community and people who usually play alone would far more easily find someone to play with.
I’m not making a poll because I want people to explain why they disagree so that I can improve and develop the ideas, as well as remove them if there is compelling evidence. Thanks in advance for the feedback : D
