Hey guys! Do you ever get annoyed when you take time to report someone but they ended up being banned by sentinel already? Well here is my idea! If you reported someone and they happened to already banned you should get credit for it since you correctly identified the cheater and you would have had them banned regardless of sentinel or not. I get so many reports closed like this and it's a little discouraging because most the time you work hard to keep the server a better place and it's all for nothing at that point.

So what do you think?

Some questions you might have:

---
Q: What if someone is false banned

A: If the person is false banned and then I'm guessing it could be changed back to the number it was before it was counted. We will have to see how staff reply to this thread.

Q: Will previous reports from prior be corrected if this is implemented?

A: Again, I can't speak for the staff team so we will have to see what they say if they reply.

What credit are you speaking of exactly? Get a handled report? If that's what you're suggesting, then I feel like I'm against it. The whole point of receiving a handled report is that a rule breaker got punished thanks to your report, which wouldn't really be the case if the player got punished thanks to someone/something else first. You could just go to someone's infractions list, get the evidence from their recent infraction and use it to get a free report. That's not how things should ever work.

You still would have gotten the report if sentinel hadn't gotten it before you. But sentinel is really good nowadays making it more of a challenge to be the first one to report a rulebreaker. I understand where you're coming from though. Also if someone DID go into the infractions and tried reporting them it would be noted how long ago the sentinel ban was compared to the report. Although it sounds difficult I doubt many people would attempt that and if they did they would receive a punishment.

I gave up on reporting KillAura/bhop/scaffold since these will be punished by sentinel eventually.
Only report Teaming/Swearing/Trolling or Anti-KB and you should get credit for your reports

I agree, sometimes staff take a long time, its not their fault, they have lives, but I think a person should get credit.

I think the worst part of the current system is that you receive a red 'closed' message instead of something less bad looking. Having a green or blue 'reviewed' message would probably be a lot less discouraging or dissatisfying.

A more advanced idea:
Reports that would otherwise be closed for 'already punished' will be moved to a separate reports queue, which appends to the regular queue. This means that if all reports are handled -and the active staff member has some spare time- they can review reports of already punished players. If the evidence is sufficient, it will be saved as additional evidence against the player, which can be extremely helpful for Sentinel bans, and a green 'Added' message will appear. If the evidence was insufficient, a red 'closed' message will appear.

Exactly my point. <3
I think your idea is even better!
Even if my idea does not get implemented, the blue tag part should definitely get implemented.

Thats actually a pretty good idea,

This seems great!

I was walking down the street tonight, NO COSTUME, just me, my green sweater, and my brown dog. And someone gasps and says "Yooo it's Shaggy and Scooby Doo!" wild.
We used rainbow jelly… turns out it works on players too. 🌈
