If you have many friends who are strong pvp’ers, chances are, they have gotten a false ban by sentinel before.

I request to change Sentinel to instead of watching everyone, only watch select people. You would do /report ______ if you see somebody hacking, and sentinel will watch them for the next 48 hour period.

This way, many legit pvpers will not get false banned, and this will lower false bans greatly

Another solution could be just speed up the process of getting an unban

interesting idea, I think it should also watch players who are new to the server as well, maybe only for the first week or so, or the first time a user has logged in in a while, check them for 48 hours because that will prevent alt account abusers from staying not banned for long

I’ve been playing almost everyday for the past year, and have never received a sentinel ban

I petition to change Sentinel to instead of watching everyone, only watch select people.
So instead of watching everyone, it would only watch a few players? Lol
So sentinel won’t watch unless someone does /report , that’s a bit silly but the whole point of sentinel is that it watches constantly making sure no one is cheating, it should not wait until people do /report on a player
This way, many legit pvpers will not get false banned, and this will lower false bans greatly
Believe it or not, most players who get sentinel banned cheated in some way, they will obviously not admit that they cheated, instead they will use the classic “I lagged out” excuse. Only a few percentage actually get falsely banned

I suggest that if a player gets mass reported by using /report, it alerts a staff member in game, and they could come and watch to see if the user is cheating or not. However, cube has a small staff team and I don’t believe they will implement this, which is understandable since they already have a report system, even though it takes time, but it works.

I somehow doubt this would be any solution at all. Also, petition threads are not allowed on the forums. Please be sure to read the rules at https://www.cubecraft.net/threads/official-rules.134453/

Just thought of something else, maybe make it so once a player reaches level 80, Sentinel stops watching that player. Before you go ranting: “players gonna rush to lvl 80 the start hacking!” That would be an extremely rare circumstance. When players that high get banned, it is more common for them to get falsely banned than truly banned. You can always record and report them, or ask a mod to spectate them.

I already know, people will abuse this against players they hate.
That's not a problem imo. If u false report someone who's not hacking, they won't get banned
+ This command will make false bans decrease

That's not really a solution. If people will hack despite having a ~$180 rank, then they'll probably hack even if they're at level 80.

It’s an interesting idea (and one suggested before). I don’t think this will have the intended effect though. So many players hacksucate and absolutely would /report pretty much any decent pvp’er. This would mean sentinel would be watching them just as it is currently, which would still have the same chance of false banning them as it does currently. Another problem is that those sentinel would pick up instantly would not get banned until they were reported. I have run into quite a few cheaters who were banned banned by sentinel just moments before I realized they were. That can be the difference between dying and living in a game.
As for appeals, yes, I agree, the current system is not the best. Having an appeal and appeal discussions makes no real sense to me since the appeal discussion can take significantly longer since so few are able to review them. Perhaps some suggestions could be thrown out that would work wonderfully. My best idea for helping would be making an appeal help guide (which could be linked in the appeal writing section) to inform players what to focus on and how to best create their appeal. This is not really a solution to how long it can take for appeals to reviewed, but may indirectly decrease how many need to create an appeal discussion due to better written appeals. (This May be a project I work on soon).

I think a solution could be the staff member alert thingy (as siggestion many times). As some people have suggested on the past, have a ranking system based on number of reports on a person. Then if a staff member is online and is wanting to spectate and get some bans (because we do still enjoy playing games), they could run a list command to show a list of top 10 reported online players from most to reported to least reported. There would be a notification in chat for the reporting player notifing that this is not the main way to report a player and that the best way would be to record and report, but if a staff member is online, they may come and watch. Reports on players would fade after 1-2 hours after the command was run.
This system would mean that those cheating and not getting banned by sentinel would accumulate reports and would be near the top of the list to be watched. I can’t really think of another system that could work without us getting constantly spammed with reports.

I get called a hacker literally every day I play on the server. If our players had access to this, Sentinel wouldn't just watch me; it would be permanently glued to me. Who do you trust more: a piece of software written by a professional, or a mob of thousands of children who call hax on anyone that lands a successful crit?

False bans do not happen and every hacker is caught by sentinel :), it has banned over 1 million players now :D
