It doesn't seem like it in the screenshots though....
I would say this is a MC bug, but I've been scrolling through a lot of tickets in the Mojang Bug Tracker and it doesn't seem 1.9+ versions are affected by this weird behavior...
So this could either mean it's something Cubecraft related or maybe it's a bug from MC but it wasn't reported yet. Can you try and recreate the bug again?

My items are lying in the water. It's impossible that my body is on the side of that edge of the river.

That thread is about the same thing, he died from jumping into the water after the grace period ended. We didn't find the cause of it though.
