This has been encountered by pretty much everybody, when you have full diamond and op stuff... but the last person is hiding, frustrates everyone huh?
My suggestion:
My suggestion is that everyone (yes, everyone) can set a time-limit to a game, which they will be teleported to middle for a finale type match. Yes, this may be bringing a bit of SG into it but it really frustrates me when someone is hiding in biomes.. ;-;

I have to admit it´s pretty annoying when the last player is hiding. If you finally found him u have to build to him. And I mostly die while trying to get to the player.
I wouldn´t say that everyone should be able to set a time limit though. Maybe the last 2 players should get teleported to middle after the 3rd player died.
(60 seconds time to sort stuff before getting teleported, maybe)

oOo. that's what u were talking about in my profile ;3 i think this is a bad idea bc i wouldnt want to play a ame with time limit, knowing that i hae to hurry and eliminate everyone, i like to take my time ;3

But if you are trying to get the last two players to join together, I get that the arena method is most efficient, but I think having a player tracking item <compass> could work best...

I know this, a lot of people don't like block decay. but it seems like the only way to actually get people out of the middle and preventing a 30 minute game. And people calling you a "noob", "camper" etc.
the problem here is that A player that wants to end the game quickly and win cannot find the camper, a player tracker would allow the offensive player to track down and eliminate the camper...
and yes, since the enderman kit has been removed, a block decay would be fair, but it would definitely be a challenge to pvp after block decay starts...

That is a problem for one person. If you are slow then that is too bad. Everyone else is quick in sg so why just not implement something because one playeris too slow? Well you need to have read the first post to completly understand that.

This ^ is a good idea. 60 seconds is a generous amount of time to get ready.

im guessing you meant sky wars, :/ , eh, people have different pace, it dosent mean im slow ;3 , i just think taking my time to strategically attack is more fun than rushing #yolo style... and yeah, i think

Block decay thats all i have to say it needs to come back -.-
I would agree, only that now we have century, which is a staple in skywars. Everyone loves this map for the hectic chaos that ensues once the match initiates, and it's an incredible source for stat-building and point farming for those new to the server, and ultimately, the game itself.

My personal input would have to be that they alter the game, so that the last 4 people standing will be warped to an alternative area, rather than the middle which tends to be dilapidated and rundown towards the end of the game due to tnt kits and tnt traps naturally spawning there. A square field, possibly beyond reach during a game with no barriers, similar to pizza spleef, where players can duke it out for glory in a free for all, wouldn't necessarily be a bad addition. EXACTLY! That way we don't have to check over 50 islands for a camper on century, or over 30 islands for a camper on icky biomes >.<

Then you wouldn't be able to fall off the map, which in my opinion is quite an important feature in skywars.

I really don't think that disappearing blocks will be the best solution for the problem, theres a lot of flaws to the idea. My idea is that after X amount of time has past, or X amount of players have died, everyone gets a compass that points to the nearest player. Either that, or everyone gets a compass by default in the beginning. I feel as if that idea is a lot better, and can not cause as much rage :)

This will encourage a slow play-style even further. If 'campers' knew that people can see their location, they will camp twice as much, relying on the lack of patience in their opponents to counter them via projectiles whilst they're bridging across.
