Thoughts on the new combat update?

So Mojang announced CombatUpdateV2.0, nothing known yet other than that its an “overhaul”.
Thoughts? Think its adding on to 1.9 or reversion to 1.8?

Probably adding on to 1.9, if they made a significant change then there would be 3 communities, 1.8, 1.9 and 1.12+

I mean I would guess its something diff from 1.12 but def not the other because dinnerbone aaid they’d never revert. I hope its something enjoyable, but knowing 1.8 fans they cant enjoy anything else.

I think its a remade of 1.8 pvp. Because almost everyone in the 1.8 community is complaining about the combat and saying that 1.8 is outdated. And the 1.8 PVP community is probably much bigger then the 1.9 PVP community. so yeah its probably a 1.8 revamp. But it could also be a gamerule or something like /gamerule OldLegacyCombat true/false. idk xd

Maybe they'll make it so that players can't actually get damaged while they're wearing armour? So you'd have to actually break all the armour before being able to kill someone.
Also maybe armour makes you slower depending on the material...
Idk I just feel like it's gonna be armour based.
