While I can see why you guys would make a thread like this, to show love to the helpers in some fashion, I also do not feel that this thread is necessary. Now let me explain why before anyone gets mad.
- One we are a team and these helpers are all a part of this team. We should not pin them against each other or make them try to fight to be top dog and get the most votes. They are all doing amazing just as they are, and need to be able to rely on each other, while also simply worrying about their own work instead of comparing themselves to each other to try and one up each other. This does not support a healthy team relationship or attitude amongst the people involved. Although healthy competition is fine, this seems a bit extravagant and almost encouraging a negative fashion of competition.
- Second the helpers are all amazing people and shouldn't need to rely on votes for confirmation. What I mean by this is, if you guys want to say something nice about a helper or give feedback about a particular helper (as any staff) you can do so by privately contacting them, posting on their profile, or even creating a thread in Staff-Feedback where it will then get relayed to them. This way they will get a personal message of appreciation rather than basing their worth by a number on a page.
- Third, while this thread may have had good intents, it can cause a lot of drama or hate in the end, unintentionally. This is due to differing opinions or outcomes of various scenarios. For example lets say one particular helper gets a high amount of votes, but a different helper gets a promotion. This could cause drama between the people who voted for the top pick and the ones that voted for the helper that actually got promoted. There is a lot that goes into helpers being promoted and they have to do a lot more than maybe the community may see right off the bat. Due to this, voting for who would get promoted could be a bit inaccurate as the community sees only so much.
While I support you guys supporting our helpers (and other staff) and loving on them, I feel there are so many better ways to do it then write a pole about it, as I stated earlier. I encourage you guys to message them and uplift them, keeping in mind that they are volunteers just like the other staff, and the encouragement from those that the staff team are helping holds a lot of value.
