So, I played on Cubecraft and its discord for a few days. (After being inactive for 6 months) And I noticed something. I was playing with some people who were swearing the whole time. I didn’t report them because it doesnt bother me at all. However, at some point an American guy joined and we continued in English. Then they got him muted for not speaking Dutch. While I can see there’s clearly a rule you have to speak the specific language in the suitable channel, this whole kind of witch hunt goes against my own principals. I could mention several examples of this.

While the staff ofcourse not always can be there to moderate, that’s simply not possible, it seems kinda unfair for this guy and many other people who got in the same situation. It’s rather fragmention based than really punishing the people who do the most harm.

I also feel the “i reported X amount of rulebreakers” seems out of place. It shouldn’t be about quantity, but rather quality. While every moderator clearly puts all his/her energy into their voluntary job, some take it to the extreme. (Not necessarily any moderator, rather the whole process of witch hunting)

I feel like people who commit a minor issue as speaking in the wrong channel shouldn’t be punished at all. And some “mature” people who say bad words at 12’o clock can’t be blamed that much either. Besides, what kids are around at midnight in a Dutch channel?

Not that i know it better, neither can be anything blamed on the rules, it’s just something I can’t stand. Thanks for reading.

hi komododragon

first of all, nice to have u back!
I can totally see why you made this suggestion and I do agree on some parts.
- Swearing should be always bad and there is no way for staff to tell if a user is mature or not and users should be punished (just like it is now)
- Speaking the wrong language however can be very irritating but can also be very harmless. I think they should just be told to move to another channel by the staff member who catches them. only when a user reports them or is getting the staff himself the rule-breaking-user should be punished.
- And last but not least, what about cubecraft changes the sentence from ''I reported X amount of rulebreakers'' to ''I successfully get X people punished'' this takes away the feeling of mass reporting but is still cool and even more cool if you want to flex.

Hope you are enjoying cube besides this :)

I agree and i disagree,
Yes i think swearing needs to be less/not punished in some channels at a specific time. So i agree on that part.
But i disagree on this:

A person could be really anoying doing this. It needs to be punishable. lets say he's been warned multiple times by the other users in call he needs to be punished because he anoying/irritates other users. But if he's not warned then i agree i heard multiple story's of other users getting baited into swearing in a other language (where they know nothing off).

Well yes, but there shouldn’t be made a witch hunt of. If someone swears towards you ofcourse you have the right to report him. Besides, I show my protest by not reporting them when I feel they don’t harm anyone.

I think they should just be told to move to another channel by the staff member who catches them. only when a user reports them or is getting the staff himself the rule-breaking-user should be punished.
Good solution, although user reports should be double-checked, keeping an eye on the whole bait thing as @ElementThink mentioned.

It shouldnt be changed at all. It just doesn’t feel right when most of this punishments are clearly for lower inappropiate behaviour. High harm offences should be prioritised to be reported instead of vice versa.
