It still works as I play on Nintendo and have done this action before.
If you play on cube you already anyway have an Xbox account as that's how mc works

Is it possible to get banned? If it happens, would I get banned forever?

I’m assuming you’re talking about the Forums. If so, then yes it is possible to get banned.
A few factors will play into a ban, mainly being whether you've committed the same offence multiple times. It also depends on the severity of the offence. For example, if you swear in a message, you’ll probably just get a warning, but if you were to fully dox someone’s location, you’d probably be perma-banned.

Thank you for telling me. I don't swear, cuz that's bad, but I do sometimes get banned in other sites typing too many letters in a word like 'YEEES' (but with 50 more Es)
