Happy new year, CubeCrafters! Before we charge into 2025, I think it's important to look back at the best updates, changes and community contributions of last year. This is why, as well as the December 2024 edition that you are currently reading, I have decided that Community Highlights will also have an end of the year special edition! I'm not sure when I'll be able to get it done, but I'm aiming for a January release. With that announcement over, let's wrap up 2024 with one final monthly news thread!
EggWars: OG Update 
On December 12th, the long-awaited OG EggWars update was finally released! This update was first announced in April of 2024 and the general plan was to make EggWars more similar to how it was before the 1.19 update. Some of the items that were unpopular with the community, such as netherite armour, ancient debris, elytra and tridents, have been removed, and some of the OG items such as leather armour and terracotta have made a return. The full changelog can be found in the official announcement thread - a link to it will be provided at the end of this article.
Item caps and cooldowns have been added for leap feathers, so you can only hold a maximum of three and you can only use them every ten seconds. An item cap has also been added for TNT so you can only hold a maximum of eight pieces. In addition, a spectacular nine new maps have been added to EggWars, consisting of two solo maps, two duos maps, two squads maps, one mega map and two duels maps.

CubeCraft Turns 12 
December 21st was a big day for CubeCraft, as it celebrated it's 12th birthday! As usual with the birthday events, the two birthday exclusive maps made a return - Party for Solo SkyWars and Birthday for Team EggWars.
Additionally, two new Snowman Survival maps have been released. These maps are named Village and Cookie House, and will only be available for a short time until the winter event ends, so go enjoy them now!

Exclusive Shop 
When the winter event began in November, CubeCraft announced that towards the end of the year, they would be adding an exclusive shop allowing players to buy any of the cosmetic items/bundles that were released throughout 2024. Well, that time is now! Several popular items sch as the epic dragon buddy and the epic kill effects are now available, in both normal and gift form, up until January 5th!
Lobby Board Competitions 
Have you ever noticed those boards on either side of the spawn platform in the lobby? Well, these display community creations, and throughout the year CubeCraft hosts several competitions in the official Discord server, with the winners getting a place on this board! From December 6th to December 20th, an art competition and a selfie competition were hosted, and we are currently awaiting the winners announcements. You should take a look at the submissions and decide which ones are your favourites!

15 Ideas & Changes for Lucky Islands by @Velocidad and @shamomshkaTaking the top spot this month is this collection of Lucky Islands ideas by Velocidad and shamomshka! These ideas consist of many small changes to balance the game, as well as the suggestions of three 'legendary items' to make the glitched lucky block special and unique.

Bring Back Seasonal Leaderboards by @dreamingbigeThis next idea comes from dreamingbige, who suggests the addition of a seasonal leaderboard that resets each season, similar to the EggWars seasonal leaderboards. A temporary leaderboard could encourage recurring activity from CubeCraft's players.
