Skyblock AFK Farming?

So I have a auto cactus farm but am waiting on iron for hoppers. I was just wondering since trees and other crops grow while you're offline would the cacti grow then break and fall into the hopper while I'm offline? Just wondering before I put too much work into it.

IIRC, the timer does tick down while you are away, but they won’t actually grow until you log on.
