Ok today I completely failed a leader boards fight agains yoyamin and I believe it's because I can't combo well enough. So I'm looking for tips on how to get great combos because I always rely too much on crits :( . When I attempt a combo I usually go for 80% cool down and back and forth strafing (A and D) any ways I should improve this?

Oh oh don't ask me,...pvp isn't my best side when it comes to mc

Just move a lot around the player and make sure he doesn't get too many hits in a row on you.

I like to switch tactics mid-fight

Left-Right strafe combo - crit combo - circle strafing

Unless they lag and take delayed kb then in that case just keep moving and dodging their hits

The first thing you should do is learn how to aim well and estimate your opponents location properly.

There are a few types of combos, but I am just going to share some.

Straight-strafe combo:
Hit your opponent and move backwards for a bit while he is taking knockback from you so that you are out of reach. Later (after 0.6 second), quickly sprint forward, hit your opponent and move backwards again.
I sometimes get called the hacker for anti-knockback/reach/killaura when I use this strafe.

Circle-strafe combo:
Sprint around your opponent and hit them every 0.6 seconds. This is deadly to your opponent as you will receive very less hits. But you must have an extremely good aim, otherwise, you will look like dancing around the player. I personally prefer the straight-strafe combo because I will get more hits.
I sometimes get called the killaura/aimbot hacker when I use this strafe.

Hope that help! I am planning to create a tutorial for 1.9 PVP soon.

It is a great idea unless you have a super accurate aim. You should practise straight-strafe combo first. That will improve your aim.

Combos are much easier to do with a sword then an axe. So I suggest you do it with a sword. Anyways, when you are pvping strafe then. When you are behind then hit them, and when they turn to see where you are, go behind them again. When they are eating, that's your gold moment to do crits. (Since they are standing still) Jump and hit them over until they run. At that point, just crit them. If they fight back do the strafez again.

A sword has better DPS (Damage per second) rather than an axe. You miss a swing, that's a DPS wasted. With a sword, even if you miss, you can still gain back the DPS that's done with an axe.
Well you could just ignore cool down and counting crits axes have greater dps :P. It might even be a bit easier as the knockback would be reduced making it so you don't have to adjust your aim as much.

Swords still have a higher DPS. I love the sword knockback and swipe attack too. If your opponent knockback is reduced, he will have more chance to reach you. Knockback doesn't affect aiming fyi, just get used to it. However, I will go for a stone axe compared to a stone sword because the damage of stone axe is equal to a diamond axe (but swings slower) which is 9 compared to just 5 which brings a huge difference.

Hi! I'm new, and I don't really understand necroposting. There is an option to tick that says 'I understand that this post is 3 months old and would still like to reply', should we just never tick that? If so, what is its purpouse?
