Yes, this is a suggestion thread about the suggestions! Over the past 1.5 years, the CubeCraft team has given us a peek behind the scenes in several threads: Development of Lucky Islands, Sentinel, Their build server, Matchmaking, Regions and routing, Magic & Mayhem, and most recently Helper Trail & Recruitment. I always enjoy reading these threads as I think they are very interesting and give a unique explanation of the processes of this (otherwise pretty secretive) server!

I think many frequent visitors of this subforum are interested to know what happens after their suggestion disappears onto the stack of forwarded threads. Some topics I had in mind (feel free to add!):
  • How are threads picked for discussion?
  • Why do planned threads not always make it into the update?
  • Do's and don'ts for making suggestions
  • Maybe even an elaboration on the process from Backlog, Development to Testing and Release?
Let me know what you think!

This would be great Behind the Cube part!

Suggestions, feedback and forums generally are really big part of CubeCraft so I think this would be great! Maybe they could also tell us something from forums background like stats or interestings.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the suggestion @99th_DutchVoid c:

Honestly, I wish I could be like "the way we deal with suggestions are revolutionary! it will move mountains and change everything! all patented and will sell to Amazon!", but in all truth, it is nothing special. This information should be publicly viewable anyways and we are working on a new thread which outlines all of this soon, alongside some changes to the suggestion subforum.

As such, I'll give you a brief rundown on how we deal with suggestions, in preparation for the thread mentioned above. :]

Our moderators are far more active on our forums than we are - we're pretty active, but not all the time, so our mods & members of Team CubeCraft monitor a lot of our suggestions. Once they notice it has passed the 25 agree mark, they throw it into a Slack channel, which we on the Server Team move the suggestion onto a Notion card for further discussion. The process looks something like this:

omgz suggestion is past 25 agrees. POST IT IN SLACK!!!

Posted in Slack, hooray. React with :notion: when its on Notion

How this suggestion looks on Notion.

Once it's in Notion, suggestions move onto a voting stage. Every week, @Marieke2001 will tag the whole server team to comment on the Suggestion. We give feedback, say if we agree or disagree, then Marieke makes a decision, and moves onto accepting (so, planning) or denying the suggestion. Some suggestions require a lot (and I mean, a lot) of discussion, but some are very very simple to respond to.

This was us talking about an FFA regeneration system.

From there, we change the status from "Needs Response" to "In Discussion", to then "Denied" or "Planned". Each of these suggestions have their own view, so we can very easily look at planned suggestions per game, in order for us to plan our next updates to our games very easily, alongside all of our other ideas.

Lots of pretty views of pretty tables to keep us occupied. :D

That's basically it - I would love to answer some more questions if you have them! :D
