Hello, everyone! As I promised in the December 2024 highlights thread, today I'm releasing a highlights for the whole of 2024! It may be slightly shorter than the monthly editions, as I wasn't sure how much to include without repeating myself. But I hope you enjoy it anyway!

Yearly Summary 📅

2024 has brought both ups and downs for CubeCraft. It was off to a shaky start with the release of the BlockWars 10v10 update in January, which was not very well received by many members of the community. But there is always an opportunity to correct hasty decisions, and later in June, the team sizes were reverted back to 5v5. It wasn't all bad, as the rest of the update's features were not as heavily criticised and were able to stay on the network.

In February and March, new games arrived on the server for the first time in a while. CubeCraft introduced Pillars of Fortune as a temporary gamemode, which quickly gained popularity and has remained on the network ever since. Then there was BedWars, and although there was some controversy over how similar the concept was to EggWars, both games seem to be surviving and have developed their own distinct communities and playstyles.

Despite the reduction of the design team at the end of April, described briefly in this thread by @SanCookie, CubeCraft continued to provide us with a variety of amazing cosmetic bundles throughout the year. The introduction of the new epic loot category in June also caused quite a stir, with new mechanics being introduced to cosmetics, such as the dragon mount with the ability to fly and perform tricks.

Next up, there was good news for our Java players in August. After almost two full years since it's removal, Team Lucky Islands made a temporary return. Even though it is gone now, this decision is a positive sign that the CubeCraft team is willing to experiment, within reason, with some of these old, removed gamemodes.

One of CubeCraft's most iconic gamemodes, EggWars, has received two updates this year. First there was the perky update in February, and then at the end of the year, the long-awaited OG EggWars update finally released, after having been known to the community since April.

Community Suggestions 💭

An incredible 768 suggestions were posted in the feedback & suggestions subforum in 2024!

2024 saw a large rise in the number of cosmetic suggestions. 94 to be exact! They make up 12.2% of the total suggestions posted in 2024.

On the other hand, only 6 suggestions were dedicated to Survival Games (0.78% of total suggestions). But does this mean it is the least popular game, or just that it's already perfect?

The top suggester of 2024 was @Reesle, who acquired a total of 299 reaction score across all of their suggestions! So close to 300... maybe this year?

Top 5 Suggestions of the Year
Suggestions have always been a very important part of our forums. But does this top 5 surprise you?

Thank you! 💙

And with that, this thread is over. And so too, I'm afraid, is my time creating Community Highlights threads. It was a very hard decision, and one I have been thinking about for many months. But I'm now a full-time university student and I have considerably less time to dedicate to CubeCraft. I've decided that I would rather prioritise the time I have on moderation duties. This doesn't mean that I will be disappearing from the community, as this is by far my favourite thing about being here and I couldn't possibly leave it behind. I still have a few projects I would like to work on that are not quite so time-consuming. I hope Community Highlights have been enjoyable for you for the last two years!
