since the release of blockband, ive been getting the error message that there are no available servers to play a game... and im assuming its because blockband creates an individual server for each person... most game modes can hold atleast 10 players per game, so in essence, adding blockband as a solo thing reduced server availability by 90%+ for other games
(again, i dont know this as fact, but it would be quite a coincidence if it was something else)
i suggest a different approach to it to take the load off other games
#1 make it multiplayer.. this also increases the fun of the game when you add a competitive edge to it... i dont know much about coding or anything, but i would think that you can atleast make it a 4 player game.
with it now being multiplayer, you can have games go up on a board based on difficulty, and then once in the game, give everyone the option to vote for a specific song in that difficulty bracket (perhaps give donors an extra vote?)
as for the difficulty, you can keep the current star system to unlock new songs, but ramp up the cost a bit, and have it to unlock the next difficulty (so you cant go to intermediate songs untill you have played a few beginners)
#2 you can keep it solo, but still add lobbies, and have a sort of queuing system, and people wait their turn to play the song they want.. perhaps 5-15 people per queue
this will give another form of entertainment too, perhaps for people that enjoy the music, but cant really play so well, they can go there just to watch others and vibe out... plus it will make the person "on stage" feel more of a rush because they are performing in front of others
this will also give ranked players a bit more incentive to buy the themes, as they can show off their status by changing the theme of the stage when they play
#3 this one is the easiest.. but probably the worst idea (for the players at least) just strait up limit the amount of servers block band can take up at any one time
