This issue has been brought up multiple times, but I'd like to draw attention to it again. I have first heard about this one discord on August 13th, since this seems like a really severe issue this should have been fixed long ago.

I have tracked my wins and kills over 30 games just now, this is the result:

So in summary, during 30 games, I got credit for 37 kills instead of the expected 18 kills. Since only kills are displayed on the leaderboard, heavily messes with the leaderboard.

Since this has been going on for well over a month and I know players that have gotten thousands of extra kills, I think it's not fair to continue the leaderboard as it is. In addition to fixing this bug, I think the leaderboard should switch to showing wins instead of kills in the future, if the correct stats cannot be restored from the existing data. That would also help with the issue of combat logging.

Some people are campers and win, they don't have skills... Some people are rushers and kills many people except the last one, because they are camping... Theh have skills. So I don't agree. I am sorry...

This is about duels. If someone camps and forces a draw, they won't get the kill either way. If they skybase or climb on the edge and knock theit opponent off, they already get the kill.

I see the issue that skybasing might be more effective to make your opponent to leave and then get the win. Skybasing or avoiding to fight in duels should be a punishable offense. The only reason I have seen for why it is not puinishable is that the timer prevents a stalemate. While that already makes no sense to me, they also stated lated that skybasing is not allowed in Infection which also has a timer.

Overall PvP, in my opinion, should rely on kills on the leaderboard rather than wins. Goodluck though and enjoy the rest of your day :)

Wins not deaths. In my opinion both wins and kills have their drawbacks, wins encourage making your opponent leave but kills don't give you a reward if your opponent rage quits or you kill them with dogs/lava/enderpearl. Usually I'd say having kills on the leaderboard is a valid decision but if everyone's kill stat is wrong then the wins are better.

Sorry, I worded that wrong, I meant to type Wins, not deaths. I have edited my post to add wins. But yes, in my opinion, I would stick with kills :)

Yes even if the logged out or got disconnected. I think it should still count in my opinion :)
This isn't about people disconnecting. The kill stat is completely wrong. If they can calculate the correct values I'm fine with keeping it this way, but otherwise they have to either reset all stats completely or switch to a correct stat for the leaderboard.

I think that reseting stats might be overwhelming, and just genuinely annoying, because that when all of the top 5 killers had achieved 17,800 kills and above,

I believe that it's going to be pretty annoying, "farming" and "grinding" them all back, unless they've quitted Duels.

(And also I have the dream to get as many kills as the top 5 killers in FFA, and when they have 51,000 kills and above.. y'know.. 21,000 kills is a "close step" as it is not even half of what I need to get 'em equal)

So to top it all off, I think that just fixing the current system would be better for everyone as it doesn't reset any stats to anyone who actually cares about Duels, because for me, Duels is just a super small training wheel that random people log on to, when they wanna warm up. also known as a "gym".. darn humans.

When they look at the Duels-Top-Killer-Leader-Board, all they let me know, is that "we" just play this game more than the rest of the community, insted of having skills, and fighting in other games.
I do want to add more stats to be shown in Duels, such as kill-streak, win-streak, and the top kill-streak you've ever done, and also an auto-calculator to show your current K/D-R. and also people should be able to fight in equal arms between people who are 5-kdr-points above, and below them. to make it more difficult, because people complain that the fact that I am murdering children for coins and stabbing grown adults of experience and the joy of it, is apperently a "disorder" and a "psychopathtic"-way to act.

In short: Fix the current system, please no reset, get more skilled people, gravity is a russian lie, and knockback is just a story.

Yes, a complete reset would be unfair. While I think an additional monthly leaderboard could be interesting, my suggestion here was just to switch to wins instead of kills as the objective for the leaderboard. As far as I know the wins are correct but the kills are not. I assume that the leaderboard wouldn't change much, the players with the most kills probably have the most wins as well.
The only downside I see would be players bullying you into leaving to get on the leaderboard. But I don't think that will happen much because those that have played long enough to have a chance to get on the leaderboard can probably accumulate wins faster by quickly farming kills with a low armor kit.
Another upside would be that it would take op duels a little bit more into account where not only fights take longer (so you can get less wins per time) but also people leave a lot.

With the upcoming update I think something has to be done about this issue. Either restore the correct numbers of kills somehow or change the leaderboard to display wins instead.

My opinion is that you need to work for your kills, because otherwise you get free wins or so and thats not fair!
How do you get free wins? I see three situations where you get a win but no kill.
1. You kill your opponent indirectly, using lava, the explosive bow, mobs, enderpearl, void damage (without hitting them directly before) etc. In my opinion it would even be more fair to get credit for such a kill.
2. Your opponent leaves the game after he realises he has no chance to win anymore. Again, I think it would be more fair to get credit for that win.
3. Your opponent leaves immediately because he either doesn't like you or the kit. Only in that case you actually didn't work for that win. If that actually happens so often that it becomes relevant here, something should be done against it anyway because it's annoying when that happens. Maybe allow stone ranks to select the kit or remove the /leave command in duels.

I don't think that players that have ambitions to get on the leaderboard will try to win games by camping. Waiting until their opponent gets bored and leaves would probably take way longer than just losing the game and winning the next game against someone else.The kills don't show how many legit games a player won, for two reasons. I think you still legitimately win a game if your opponent dies to a dog or an enderpearl, but you don't get the kill credit. Also the number is wrong. In fact it is so wrong that many players have more kills than wins. So it's further from the number of "legit" wins and definitely unfair because it depends on when you played the games.
