Heyy! As you may know there is a rule on the forums called ‘Repeating Active Threads’. This rule prevents members from posting a similar thread to an already existing, active and open thread. Currently this is the explanation of this rule:
With this suggestion update a new prefix got added, the forwarded prefix. When a suggestion reaches 25 ‘agree’ reactions, it will get forwarded and the suggestion receive an answer from the product team.
After this update some threads got forwarded and became older than 3 weeks, but are waiting for an answer of the product team. This threads will receive an answer from the product team about their suggestion, which may result in a denied or planned prefix. Currently it is allowed to repeat forwarded threads which are older than 3 weeks. This means that the same suggestion can get forwarded a second time, since the first forwarded thread did not receive an answer after 3 weeks. The product team would have to deal with the same suggestion an extra time.
My suggestion is to change the current ‘Repeating Active Threads’ to for example ‘Repeating Threads’. An example of an explanation for this rule can be:
‘Please don’t repeat active/forwarded threads. You may only open a new thread discussing the same topic if the previous thread has been locked due to inactivity, hasn’t been active for 3 weeks or is not forwarded.’
Why?
There is no reason to repeat an already existing thread which got forwarded, because the product team will give an answer to the suggestion on another thread already. Also the product team will have more work if similar threads got forwarded, because they have to answer another forwarded thread.
(Because this rule will only be changed, there will be no punishment for someone who repeats a forwarded thread.)
