Hello! I'm here to make a suggestion with convivial intentions (meaning, don't discard what I'm saying just yet. Consider how the server has been doing and what could be done to bring back regulars. Like it or not, games have been dying and numbers (players) have been dropping as well.) I myself have been playing since 1.8. I've seen CubeCraft go through a lot of different transformations. Let's face it... the only feedback you get is from the players themselves.
I suggest a map rotation for maps that were removed before the update. A map throwback! (My suggestion will be specifically for Classic Eggwars rather than speed). Allow me to elaborate a little more:
"Rotation? What are you even talking about?"- Well, let's break this down a little, shall we? On regular team eggwars, there are a total of 23 maps. However, as a rank, I am able to click on the mannequin (to the left of the board). Clicking it allows me to see what games are available. 23 maps fill the slots, however 4 slots remain open. How could we utilize these slots? Well, you don't necessarily have to fill them with new maps, but rather just rotate OLD maps back into the pool. What I'm trying to say is, hold a vote (a poll, if you will) to see which old maps could be voted in. This poll could be held every 2 months. It's a good way to satisfy an entire community without having to get rid of the newer maps. As someone who is a regular on the server, it would actually be pretty lit to see old maps roll in and out. For example, I'd definitely vote Area51 back into the map selection, but just because I loved that map doesn’t mean other people did too. So after two months, Vegetables could be voted back in, replacing Area51. You see where I'm going with this? Everyone gets involved and everyone gets a chance to see the nice OG maps. This could also apply to skywars.
"But what if a builder adds a new map? What if nobody votes to put in the new map?"- As they are staff members, they could overthrow the voting system. They would be able to replace one of the least played maps and add in their new map. It would be like sampling it. If people enjoyed the map then it could remain on the boards permanently, or they would eventually join in on the rotations as well. It may seem confusing, but please allow me to explain this system as best I can. I've seen it on other servers and it seems to work.
"What would you do with the maps that are already on the boards currently?"- The rotation would apply to the maps that didn't make it past the update and the least popular maps. By doing this it paves way for new mas and encourages a little bit of the originals. (the rotation would be like 'the little maps that could' or 'the misfit maps'). All of the current maps wouldn't be touched unless the staff decided differently.
"The older maps were removed for a reason! (Said Gainy)"- Yes, a lot of the maps that were removed were because of bugs, glitches, and/or the islands were too far apart. HOWEVER, just like the map treehouse, anything can be tweaked and fixed. In treehouse, the egg used to be located literally in the treehouse. It caused many people to rage quit everytime they were knocked off the bridge. Yet... the map was fixed and all was well in Townsville. My point is that maps can be fixed. Is it more work than anyone bargained for? Yes.... but think of the children!
"What would be the point in bringing back old maps? It wouldn't bring in new players...(Gainy also said this to me ;-;)- Well Gainfullterror, you are not wrong. What would be the point? The answer is community involvement. We all know that there are a lot of active people on the server forums and that every person wants to be involved in some way. This server has a lot of good people and by including democracy, it would be giving people a voice. Plain and simple. Monthly polls would be a good thing. Like I've said before, I've seen it on other servers. It works. The real question would be, are you willing to give it a try?
Obviously my idea is incredibly rough and I feel as if I explained it very poorly. I hope that someone at least tries to comprehend what I'm trying to say and that they are able to successfully demonstrate it to others. Will my idea get put down? 100% yes it will. Am I still gonna speak out and try? LOL yup. The truth is I really miss classic Eggwars. I'm not a fan of change, but I've kept my mouth shut for a very long time. Change can be good and other times... ya end up missing the old times. #BringBackArea51.
