What Is Following?
Following right now is basically something you can do to show up on someone else's profile. You don't get notifications if they post something new or if they post a new thread. Nothing really comes out of it when you follow someone.
What I Suggest?
I suggest numerous amounts of things that could give more meaning to following. Keep in mind that every one of the suggestions I make will have an option to make it not show up in your notifications. You would also be able to turn of only one person's following notifications.
1. Notification When Someone You Follow Posts Something On Their Profile.
As the title says, you will get a notification when someone you follow post something only on their own profile. If you want to know someone who your are following up to, this could give you a change to keep up with their You won't get notifications if they post something on someone else profile or if someone else posts something on their profile.
2. Notification When Someone You Follow Posts A New Thread.
Much like the last suggestion, you'll get a notification when someone you follow posts a new thread. If you are interested into what someone would be suggesting, this would be a great opportunity to see what your friends are into. You will not get a notification if they are replying to another person's thread or own thread.
3. Seeing How Many You Follow That Follow Another Person.
I know that title was a handful, sorry. For all of you that are confused, this means that when you go to someones profile, you can see how many people are following that one person you are looking at. This is much like Instagram. For those of you who are still confused, use this as an example.
